Career change...should I or should I not?

So I have been thinking hard about changing my careers. I am currently in school pursuing a degree in English to teach High School, but have always had a passion for being an EMT (Paramedic). I would love to do both, but that's not possible! I do have a 5 year old child, and also going to be a foster parent of teenagers, so I know the hours of an EMT are a big conflict. But where there is a will there is a way, right? Any suggestions?
