Drowing in thoughts I cannot say
Floating through this mess
just trying to get by.
I mix myself up another drink
another glass full of whiskey,
whiskey for the words.
The night comes slowly forth
and the moon it reaches up
up towards the sky.
Holding my breath till my face turns blue
never seems to keep the waiting down
so instead I will swallow my pride
and wash it down to you.
Lucky charms work like broken legs
they never seem to get you very far
and as you wheel yourself along
the horseshoe only gets in your way.
so swallow it all down, wash it all away.
In the gutter is the only place
where things will rest in peace.
