Hi Fubar Friends,

I have been doing my homework trying to find the most applicable retirement city for my budget and my happiness for the remaining time on this planet. Tossing my dart in the air it landed on Colombia, South America.

CraZy my friends told me, it's dangerous, cartels, crime, WHY would you pick Colombia ?

I had traveled to Costa Rica in the past, it was a rewarding experience, but I found it expensive and a tourist trap for Americans. Costa Rica is intriguing, but not my style. 

 I met a Colombian woman who was visiting Costa Rica and she told me how Colombia has changed, how Medellin and Bogota have become thriving cities ecologically  innovative, peaceful and serene - it was no longer the Narco country we USA citizens imagine. I was intrigued, she remained my friend, she was cool.

I remained in touch with my new Colombian friend and began my research. She was right on the money.

Colombia now ranks in the top ten in the world for health care services. The government with the help of of the USA has turned the corner.  There were more murders in my home town that Bogota, the capital whose population exceeds 6 million.  I was inspired and my new Colombian friend was trustworthy and challenged me to consider a visit.... So NOW you Know... It is a year later and I am on my way to Bogota and Medellin for 21 days. Yes, I will meet my friend and yes I will wander, and discover and contemplate and return to USA.
