Rats run wild in KFC-Taco Bell in N.Y. By VERENA DOBNIK, Associated Press Writer 18 minutes ago NEW YORK - New Yorkers are used to seeing rats where they catch their trains — not where they buy their burritos. About a dozen rats were having a grand party Friday in a locked KFC/Taco Bell restaurant, scampering around the floor, playing with each other and sniffing for food as they dashed around tables and children's high chairs. ADVERTISEMENT Meryl Streep Jennifer Hudson Cate Blanchett Abigail Breslin Kate Winslet Penelope Cruz Onlookers could not keep their eyes away from the jaw-dropping sight — a gang of urban vermin invading a restaurant that had been taking people's chicken and taco orders just a day earlier. Video of the rats was seen around the world, disseminated on TV stations and the Internet. "All you can eat once the store is locked," one onlooker joked. "They should handcuff them and throw the dirty rats in jail," cabbie Wilson Paul said as he pulled over to gawk. Word spread after a TV crew discovered the rat infestation Friday morning and filmed it through a window of the Greenwich Village building. Health inspectors arrived, and the parent company for KFC and Taco Bell, Yum Brands, Inc., was again forced into damage-control mode a few months after enduring an E. coli outbreak. The restaurant was not open when the rats were spotted. The company said construction in the basement on Thursday appeared to have stirred up the rodents. "This is completely unacceptable and is an absolute violation of our high standards," Yum Brands said in a statement. Rats have long been a problem in densely populated New York City. They are frequently seen scampering through subway tunnels, rooting through trash, dashing across parks and burrowing into the walls of apartment buildings. Greenwich Village tends to be a happy home for them because of its combination of older buildings and a tangle of subway lines converging just below street level. Still, it is rare to see so many rats congregating in one place in such public view. The city Department of Health had inspectors at the site on Friday for hours, and by midday had posted a sign that read "CLOSED." "Today, this establishment had serious unsanitary conditions," said Carol Feracho, a senior health inspector. "There were issues with vermin throughout." She said the infestation was "coming from the building," with "openings" that allowed the vermin to enter. She provided no other details. There was no answer at the phone number displayed in neon on the store window below the words, "We Deliver." Health Department records list the franchise owner as ADF Fifth Operating Corp., agency spokeswoman Sara Markt said. The owner could not be reached for comment, despite numerous efforts. The franchise owner "is actively addressing this issue," Yum Brands' statement said, adding that the restaurant will remain closed until the problem is resolved. Joel Cohen, who lives in the building next to the restaurant, had a graphic view of the situation. "This place is a disaster," said Cohen, who works in real estate. "They throw their rubbish in the doorways. It's loaded up with food in bags that are not tied, and the rats have eaten through the bags." Taco Bell sales have slumped since last year's E. coli scare, in which more than 70 East Coast customers became ill. Federal officials said lettuce was the most likely source, and the company has changed suppliers. Yum Brands stock closed Friday at $60.51, down 55 cents.

how my day is......

hey hello. I have been on this site for a while but never really spent alot of time here, witch I think is going to change. everything in my life is golden right now. however that will start to worrie me as it always does. when everything is going fabulous I start to wonder why instead of just letting it flow. I worrie about anything and everything anything witch might or never happen. I turn 26 next week, I don't think its any big deal, brithdays that is. it is just another day. however on the 28th I will have 3 years being clean and sober, well I have over 3 years now clean from drugs. not really sure of the date that I stoped smoking pot. but on feb 27th 2003 I had my last drink. my grampa was having his 50th year party in AA and yeah he played a big part in my getting sober, god took him home when I was 3 months sober and I miss him. however I have found true friends in AA that mean the world to me, sometimes I wish I could remmber all their names lol. anyways everyone, thanks for the taking the time to listen to me rant. hope u all have a great day.
I see alot of odd looking people everyday. I work in a mall and well strange looking people are part of the job. I try not to stare alot of the time. I saw this one dude who was just ugly I think I have even taking his order at subway before I donno, he looked really farmilar. just somthing about him made me nervouse. the man who looked to be about 45 sat down next to two girls, nothing strange about that. he started text messageing somone a about 15 mintues go by and a girl from one of the stores flaged me down to tell me that she over heard him talkin to the girls and that they looked like they were a little uncomfy by him. so I kept on eye on him. shorty after the two girls left and he just sat there for a while. then he got up and got some food and sat down next to a few other girls, agian with his cell phone out, thats when I grabed my cleaning stuff and start to clean the tables around him. thinking if I could see that his camera on his phone is on I could then do somthing about it. by this time I also had the sercurty gaurd on her way to the food court. by the time she got there he was gone. the next time I seen him a about an hour later he was sitting across from a nother table of young girls. by the time they left I was telling the gaurd that I wanted him out. she was telling me that I didn't have any proof of anything and it would be unfair to kick him out. WTF!! she don't understand that I don't need proof of anything or even a reason I can kick who ever I want to out just cuzz I don't like the looks of him. thats a part of my job. however I don't want to kick somone out unless the sercutry guard on duty will back me up. and the other maintance guy is still too new to the job to want to go along with me. he would have went with the guard. well those girls like the other ones got creeped out and left. he just sat there, aware of the fact that hes being watched. I thought that the gaurd was watching him I went on with my job of cleaning the food court. infact I was changing the garbage cans when I saw the last two little girls peeking around the corner to see if he was still there. in fact they looked like they were rather scared. I called the guard over to talk to the girls. shortly after this we found out he was looking for his "friend" he was supose to meet at the mall. I think its disgusting that a man his age was looking to meet a friend who seemed to be a 12y/o girl. maybe he wasnt but the only girls he seemed to be asking if they were the girl he was going to meet seemed to be in that age group. needless to say we asked him to leave and as soon as he got outside he thought he would just hang out there. he didnt like the fact that he had to leave the property however I for one didnt like the fact he was scoping out young girls. not on my watch buddy!! the cops were called and the girls parents even called us to thank us for handling the job the way we did and for making sure thier kids were safe. and awww fuck I forgot to brig that roll of toiet paper home lol

man in the glass

The Guy in the Glass by Dale Wimbrow, (c) 1934 When you get what you want in your struggle for pelf, And the world makes you King for a day, Then go to the mirror and look at yourself, And see what that guy has to say. For it isn't your Father, or Mother, or Wife, Who judgement upon you must pass. The feller whose verdict counts most in your life Is the guy staring back from the glass. He's the feller to please, never mind all the rest, For he's with you clear up to the end, And you've passed your most dangerous, difficult test If the guy in the glass is your friend. You may be like Jack Horner and "chisel" a plum, And think you're a wonderful guy, But the man in the glass says you're only a bum If you can't look him straight in the eye. You can fool the whole world down the pathway of years, And get pats on the back as you pass, But your final reward will be heartaches and tears If you've cheated the guy in the glass.

after the meeting

just got back from the meeting, it was nerve-racking. I must say. I was alright till I got there and I got up to talk and I think I only talked for about 10 minutens but I siad alot and I talked from the hart and yeah I'm glad that its over. once agian I am in cloud nine. its a great feeling. I get there everyonce in a while. however it is nothing like it was in early sobertiy. Nothing will ever compare to that. it was a roller coster ride for the first 5 months or so. losing my grampa durin my 3rd month didn't help any, just proof for me that my higher power whom I call god won't give me nothing today that I can not handle. the best way to some up the way I feel right now is saying that I am full of serenity.
a buddy of mine called me this afternoon and asked me if I would be the guest speaker at tonight's meeting. Well I siad yes ofcourse. I'm sitting here now, fresh home from work. Waiting to get into the bathroom to get cleaned up. I'm a little nervous however I know what it is about and I know what I need do to. Unlike last time I spoke at a meeting! lol this is my second time and I think that I somwhat have it togther what I"m going to talk about, what it is I have to say. the "big book" of AA tells me that I have to speak of "what it was like, what happend and what it's like today". shouldn't be too hard. anyways I will prolly post a blog when I get home to tell you all how it went. :D
alright, after I got home a little while I gave this some thought, it wasn't as bad as I thought it had been, perhaps I was just tried. yeah I'm still sick of the rude twats out there who just want to give out dirty looks and who think they can push everyone around. but anyawys if ya read my blog last night and got worried I was going to get drunk then yeah no need to worry, I was just over reacting. somtimes you need to stop and think about what is really wrong before you go and act out about stuff. last night is one of those times, I am wishing everyone a safe and happy new year. all the best in 007 scottie.

John Lennon was spyed on,

FBI releases final John Lennon files 12/20/2006 10:06 AM, AP The FBI has released its final surveillance documents on John Lennon to a university historian who has waged a 25-year legal battle to obtain the secret files. The 10 pages contain new details about Lennon's ties to leftist and anti-war groups in London in the early 1970s, but nothing indicating government officials considered the former Beatle a serious threat, historian Jon Wiener told the Los Angeles Times in Wednesday's editions. The FBI had unsuccessfully argued that an unnamed foreign government secretly provided the information, and releasing the documents could lead to diplomatic, political or economic retaliation against the United States. The newly released documents include a surveillance report stating that two prominent British leftists had courted Lennon in hopes that he would finance "a left-wing bookshop and reading room in London" but that Lennon gave them no money. Another page states that there was "no certain proof" that Lennon had provided money "for subversive purposes." "I doubt that Tony Blair's government will launch a military strike on the U.S. in retaliation for the release of these documents," Wiener told the newspaper. "Today, we can see that the national security claims that the FBI has been making for 25 years were absurd from the beginning." Wiener first requested the documents in 1981, several months after he decided to write a book about Lennon following the singer's murder. He initially obtained some documents, but the FBI withheld numerous files, saying they contained national security information and were exempt from the Freedom of Information Act. Wiener sued the government and received a number of files in 1997 as part of a settlement with the FBI. Justice Department lawyers continued to withhold the final 10 pages until a federal judge in 2004 ordered their release. The previously released files showed that the FBI closely monitored Lennon from 1971 to 1972.
