OK sorry for those who don't like to read but you need some background info first: I left my son's father when I was 3 mos pregnant. My son is now 16. His dad hasn't been in his life much even though that door has always been open for him. He couldn't seem to stay sober or out of jail long enough to follow through. So, basically, my son gave up on his dad a couple years ago and doesn't really want anything to do with him. His dad has 2 daughters with 2 different women and now another on the way with still another girl (they're not together anymore either). The baby is due in a couple weeks. I've never met THIS Baby Mama.
So...today I get an add request from Baby Mama on yahoo messenger. She said she's been wanting to meet me and my son because she wants my son to know "his sister". I understand where she's coming from, but I don't know this girl or if I should question her intentions. My son, on the other hand, doesn't really give a rat's ass about this baby. He said, "I'm not really part of my dad's life, so why would I want to be part of his kid's life?" I understand my son's point, too.
Baby Mama wants us to come visit and have lunch with her sometime after the baby is born. My son is not flat-out refusing, but he's reluctant.
Should we meet the Baby Mama or is she trying to stir up drama? |
