Secret 9

Gentleman

When those doors close, and it's just the two of you...or three..hey, what every makes you happy. I...at least, don't judge in this area.

Remember, sometimes the most important part is that she/s gets the attention, yours needs to take a backseat.

Show her that you are capable, to not have it, go both ways.

Sometimes giving and not receiving is the best pleasure you can have.

My comments are within.....ALBANY, N.Y. - (AP) -- Public health advocates urged New York state lawmakers Monday to require labels on sugary drinks to warn consumers about the dangers of obesity, diabetes and tooth decay*Everyone really knows this, a warning label is not going to solve the problem of obseity, diabetes and tooth decay*.

The proposed mandate, now pending in the state Assembly, comes as states across the country grapple with the costs -- human and financial -- of obesity and other diseases related to the American diet.*I honestly have no comment for this..it's just..wow*

Sharon Akabas, a professor at Columbia University's Institute of Human Nutrition, told state lawmakers Monday that labels could discourage the consumption of products linked to a long list of harmful and expensive health conditions. Akabas was one of several public health experts to voice support for the legislation at the hearing held in New York City.

"My hope would be that it would be a national label," she said.*Not going to solve the problem*

The labels -- which would resemble those on cigarette packs -- would go on cans and bottles of regular soda, juices, teas and other beverages sweetened with sugar.*Not for anything, I get what they are trying to do, but you have to look at the big picture, of what something this small would do for our future. Maybe ten to twenty years from now, they will start to ban something as simple as gum because if you chew to much it will put too much pressure on your jaw. Sounds dumb right. But if you sit and think, something small like this, can get bigger and next thing you know you are in the book 1984*

Retailers and beverage companies oppose the idea. Maston Sansom of the Food Industry Alliance of New York State, a grocery store trade group, said manufacturers and retailers shouldn't have to contend with confusing labeling requirements that vary by state. And he questioned why sugar-sweetened beverages were being singled out when candy or other unhealthy foods were not. *Bingo...why just the drinks?*

"It's such a complicated issue," he said. "There needs to be more focus on education as opposed to just singling out this one product."*Absolutely, education is the most important factor, ignorance and the lack of knowledge of history will come back and bit us on the ass*

The measure faces significant challenges in the Legislature, particularly in the Republican-controlled Senate. Critics at Monday's hearing said it's naive to think labels on soda will prevent overindulgence.*Why did they have to state, "particularly in the Republican-controlled Senate"? This has nothing to do with Republicans, Democrates, etc. This has to do with voting for the right person to office that has a brain*

"We have warning labels on alcoholic beverages, but apparently old and young alike aren't getting the message," said Assemblyman Andrew Raia, a Long Island Republican.*Well said*

Similar labeling rules have been proposed, but so far not passed, in California and Vermont. Other states have also looked at special taxes on sugar, but so far only one city -- Berkeley, California -- has imposed such a tax.*Really, we need a special tax on sugar, really?*

A ban on supersize sugary drinks proposed in New York City was struck down by the courts.*I read up on this when this issue was proposed. I live in the US, I believe in our constitution and our rights. Once you let something small get past because someone wants to make their mark and can't see past what it will do tomorrow, scares me.*

I've made my comments, I'm sure some will not see or feel the same way, but that is ok. I don't like to blog or talk politcal that much because I feel that it is one topic that can get really heated.

Secret 8

Ok, going to have a little spin on this one...and a little fun.....

It may feel right

It may feel slight

Selfishness is not right

Two are in it

All parties are equal

A sensitive touch is key

Sensual is a must

A key for thee

Neither one should leave

Till you have reached that key

If one should depart

Two will finish your part

Accomplishments/Goals

How many people can say they accomplished what they wanted to do when they got out of college.

Not many, I can honestly say that I am one of them.

I work full time, trying to start a side business and going back to school. It is not easy, but I have to say, it is well worth it.

Even if my side business doesn't pan out and it takes me years to finally finish my degree and I only have my associates at this time. I can say that I tried.

It is better to try then not try at all. Make the time for yourself to do that one thing that you always wanted to do.

Growing up my mother was always taking classes to learn something new and out of the 5 kids and I am the youngest, I was the one that took the class with her.

At the age of 13 I was taking computer classes at a college while she was taking another course. Mind you, I had NO idea what was going in the class but my mother felt that an ideal brain would lead a person to not try to accomplish the things that they were destined to do or become.

You have a dream, go for it, make your mark. Sit and make a plan, that is really the hardest thing to do. After that you will have the drive that you always had to reach your goal. Goals do not happen over night. They take time.

If you fail the first time, try again, you fail again, you try again. Maybe take a different approach to reach your goal. Put yourself out there.

You are the power behind yourself to achieve what makes you the happiest.

Now, I'm not saying go quit your job and spend you life savings, but give yourself that small amount of time to build your dream into a reality.

Taylor Swift

The article today about Taylor Swift's mom, who was diagnosed with cancer, she encourages others to go to the doctor and do your checkups.

I completely agree. Don't miss your doctor appointments. It is so important to go, yes it's scarey but catching something early is so important.

My mom passed 14 years ago and it still feels like yesterday. She would go to her doctor appointment but also would believe everything that the doctor would tell her. Doctors are human too and do make mistakes. QUESTION EVERYTHING. GET SECOND OPINIONS.

This is so important.

By the time that she went back to the doctor she was already in stage 4 ovarian cancer and this was within a 3 month span. Her doctor told her that it was just a cyst most likely and you can wait till I come back from vacation.

Because of her trust in her doctor she never said, I'll see someone in the practice since you will be away for a double check.

This type of cancer is very hard for a women to notice any wrong till it is too late. Please as a person who watched someone die from this cancer, get yourself checked. Even if you think it is so insignificant, tell your doctor. If you don't like the answer demand a blood test.

Be especially careful of the hormone replacement therapy that they give you as well. They had my mom on one as well as an all natural one and when doing some research it does state that what she was doing, they did find a link to ovarian cancer.

It took 4 years of watching her slowly die and it was absolutely heart breaking.

Remember:

1. go to your appointments

2. ask questions

3. do your research

4. get second opinions

5. be proactive

6. doctors can make mistake

7. tell your doctors everything even if you think that it doesn't matter

8. repeat the whole process again

9. www.mayoclinic.org (get informed)

  • Changes in bowel habits, such as constipation.
  • A frequent need to urinate.

Secret 7

No matter how much your girlfriend/boyfriend or significant other is the dominate partner in the relationship.

Sometimes the dominate likes to be dominated......it is up to you to realize when you need to step up into that position.

Good luck and have fun.....

Just finished reading an article about 9 Natural Ways to Cure A Headache.

After finishing the 9th way to cure my headache I now have one.

Here is an easy way to cure your headache;

1. Take 2 asprins or aleve even excederin. I prefer aleve, works the best. What ever is in your cabinet is good

2. Pull out your ice pack from the freezer

3. Go lay down and put the ice pack on your head. Please wrap it in a towel otherwise you will burn your skin from the cold.

10 minutes...good bye headache. I do this when I get my migraines.

My god, after I finishing putting together all the things that they tell you do to from this article I would end up in the hospital with my migraine.

When I get up, I have my coffee and I actually read the news.

There is always something about someone shooting at people.

Is it that there are more mentally ill people in the world? Is it that they are playing video games and have not learned to socialize? Are we as parents contributing to this?

Well, I do have my opinion on this, I think that it is a combination of all those things depending on the situation. I don't think kids realize that when you die, you don't come back. It's not a show or game. There is no do over or rewind button. Dead is dead. Your actions can destroy families and friends.

As a parent, you need to know what our kids are watching, reading, going and who their friends are. If your child has a problem, don't ignore it, help them.

Growing up in my home, no one had a tv or phone in their rooms. We had one tv and it was in the family room and you had to learn to share. You were not allowed to be on the phone for hours. Dinner was on the table at 6 and you couldn't say, "Can I eat in the living room". You ate at the table, you didn't want to eat, you still sat at the table. You asked if you can be excused from the table.

I didn't grow up angry and wanting to buy a gun and start to shoot at people. We were taught manners, how to behave in public. Don't even get me started on the kids who wear their jeans under their ass. Yes, that is exactly what I need in the morning as I pump my gas, you to walk by so I can have full view of your stained gross underwear..Thanks...now my day can get started.

Sorry, I'm getting of the topic a bit.

We had to go outside to play and we had to use our imagination. There was no play kitchen in our rooms. Toys busting out of our closet because as a parent we feel guilty that we have two people in a marriage who has to work just to make it today and we buy our kids everything.

The value of a dollar and work ethic was supplied to us at an early age.

As a community/county...we have to teach our kids to learn to share, have manners, that not everyone is going to like you but we have to be tolerant, kind and understanding. Big deal that you failed at something. Teach your child what went wrong and try again. Great people who achieve great things have made mistakes in the beginning. You don't need to own what your neighbor has, this is not a competition.  Teach that you don’t need to live with excess. Do you really need a tv in every room? Are you ok with putting your kid in front of the tv all day because your tired and can't deal?

Get over it...

That child did not ask to be brought into this world, we as parents did. Now it is our responsibility to teach them. As a community/county it is our right to show those children by our actions on how we treat others. A child’s mind is wonderful, if I decided not to hold a door open for the person behind me and a child saw that, what did I just teach them. I can tell you what I didn't teach them, common courtesy.

Again, this is only my opinion, everyone gets to have one and I respect that your don't have to agree with me.

Listen.. if you can see me clearly, you have your high beams on and you are way to close....

28 miles till my exit...it's a bit much.

My next car I lease, I'm definatly getting the rearview mirror dimmer, again...it is well worth it.

Something Funny

Ok, I have two husky's. One is black and white and her name is Lacy and  the other is red and white, his name is Luke.

I've had other husky's before and you really, really need a lot of patience and you have to show them that you are the leader of the pack.

They will always challange you at every chance they get.

If you are thinking of getting one, please read up about them. They are a tough breed.

Now, before I say what happened my other two husky's Tasha and Niki were both extremely intelligent. Tasha was 16 when she finally passed and Niki I had to be put down due to a large tumor in her lung. It absolutely broke my heart.

Now, Luke and Lacy are not too bright but good dogs. Lacy was sleeping in the dog house and Luke was sunny himself in the middle of the yard. I looked out my back door and I see this absolutely gorgious dog sunny himself in the sun, not realizing that he was actually sleeping while sitting up because the next thing I see is he fell on his side and woke himself up.

I was stunned for a minute, then had a good laugh.
