All Those Ex’s

..> Can you count all those ex's in your life,
Besides the ones that cause you stress and strife.
Let me help you to figure out a few then we can add the total to a reasonable sum,
Why me you ask. Because I want to and show you that I am not a total lazy bum.
What about an ex-boss you worked for,
Wasn't he cheap, a braggart, and a complete bore.
How about an ex-girl/boyfriend that you had,
Can you really say all the times you shared were really so bad.
What about being an ex-boozer longing for a beer,
Now that you are sober and away from all those hangovers and that "What the hell did I do last night" fear.
What about the ex-smoker that threw away the cigarettes so they might not croak,
But now when you enter a smoke filled room you all most leave so you don't choak.
So you are an ex-tree hugger that lived in a forrest far away,
You found out only the birds and squirrels really cared about what you had to say.
Maybe you are an ex-runner racing quickly down a path,
Counting all those steps became as confusing as trying to figure out long division. Or ended as quickly as the so-called new math.
Are you an ex-pool player that spent your time smashing the cue against the multi-colored balls,
Spending all your time and losing money in those dimly lit billard halls.
Are you ex-military sitting around knowing that only a few people that were there truely understand those old war stories,
Just wishing that people would stand up and take pride in those who did a job for their country. Most of the vets did it so their family could put food on the table. When you will hear them talk, most would say they'd do it again, That is the great truth of America's glory.
So having or being an ex may be a challenge but is it really that bad.
At least it means that you are alive with everyday situations and being close to loved ones. That is why I am glad.
