OK, I felt I want to address this issue, because I know the looks I get from certain people in the underground when they find out I have a taste for this music. And by that I mean when Im asked "You like them?" I get a look as though its beneath me. For example Ill be talking to My friends more into Goth/Alternative, or black friends of mine and theyll say "Really you like them?" So let me try to explain in an intelligant manner as apposed to the braindead FU woot woot explaination some people give. First off ICP, Twizted, and Psychopathic is not just braindead rap rock. There are no drummers, or bands so to speak. Its created the same way the Beasties, or Run DMC did. Its a little more personal though, fans generaly look at the producers like part of the band. Mike E Clark, Fritz the Cat, and Mike P all come from backround in forms of Electronica. Mike Clark was with Primal Scream, Utah Saints, And George Clinton previous to ICP, Fritz is a Detroit Electronica legend whos songs sound like Coil to Puppy and everthing inbetween. Mike P plays in a Industrial Rock band. These guys are way beyond goofy Hip Hop. Yes the lyrics may be braindead, or sexist at times but there is a whole other side thats both political and religious, as well as bringing hope to children picked on and beaten through our great education system. Psychopathic Records in addition is following the same formula that Wax Trax did, sign close knit artists and belt the public with tons of material and side projects, keeping the fans music appetite quenched and craving more. But yes some of the Juggalos out there arent that bright and annoying, but you have that in any scene. Your always going to have your beer, and pot crowd, your geek crowd, your hardcore drug user crowd, and your posers. Youll find the same thing at any goth show. Ive talked to people at ICP and Twizted shows about everything from Puppy and Meat Beat, to the Misfits, to comics and movies and wrestling. Bottom line is this wether your a freak or normal, black or white, either you get it or you dont get it. You either love them or hate them, there arent many fareweather fans. And if being a fan makes you a Juggalo then be proud of it!
