Act I scene VI..."Therapy"
*this scene will be a copulation of hard cuts switching between 3 therapy secessions 1) With a clinical assessor Dr.Monroe 2) With Psychiatrist Dr.Kerns and 3) With therapist Teresa
Monroe's interview takes place an office with a white table and a few chairs. Everything is white, it is almost as if it is in a hospital. Dr.Kerns Is a heavy set white man with a white beard and salt and pepper hair
Kern's interview takes place in the "level zero room" an area with dim lighting, tan chairs and wooden tables Kerns is a short slender white woman with poofy short hair
Teresa's interview takes place in a cozy office with african art and a huge brown couch . Teresa is a red skinned african american with dreds, she looks an awful lot like Zeda's mother who will be introduced later formally
Monroe: (placing four blocks on a table and shaping them into a pattern) Now what i want you to do is to use your blocks to recreate the pattern i just made
[hard cut]
Kerns: It says here that you were placed on Depakote at Peachtree hospital?
Zeda: Yes mam,
[hard cut]
Teresa: Hi Zeda, I am teresa, I am your therapist
(Zeda's jaw drops as her eyes focus on the face structure of Teresa)
[hard cut]
Monroe: Why do you keep erasing?
(Zeda drawing a picture of a man wearing blue jeans and black boots with zippers)
Zeda: I cant get the face right
Monroe: Are you drawing someone in particular
Zeda: No, I just cant get the nose to match the eyes
Monroe: Ahh a smart ass and a perfectionist
Zeda: I am not a perfectionist
[hard Cut]
Kerns: I see that you had a restraint your second day here
Zeda: Yea
Kerns: A rough start dont you think
Zeda: i guess
[hard cut]
Teresa: So what we are going to do now is set up your treatment plan. these are things that you the staff and your caseworker feel are things you need to work on
Zeda:okay
Teresa: so what do you feel you need to work on
[hard cut]
Monroe: now i am going to ask you some questions, and i just need you to answer with the first thing that comes to your mind: Light
Zeda: Dark
[hard cut]
Kerns:Do you feel like the medication has helped you deal with your anger any better
Zeda: No,
Kerns: well, it may be because you arent taking it. Your last lab levels showed barely any traces of the medication
Zeda: I have a high metabolism
[Hard Cut]
Zeda: No, there is no reason for that to be in there
Teresa: Zeda, you were molested, you didnt kill anybody, it may be beneficial for you to work out your issues with this subject
Zeda: There are no Issues, it happened, its over, i dont even remember it
Teresa: if you didnt remember it, you wouldn't have said yes when you were asked if you had been molested during your intake
[hard cut]
Monroe: And what is turpentine made of
Zeda: Pine sap...can i ask you a question?
Monroe: Sure go ahead
Zeda: what does any of this have to do with me being crazy?
(monroe laughs)
Kerns: Zeda, i am going to try you on 1500miligrams of depakote, it will be a gradual increase over the next week. your pills are going to look a little different than before, but you have to make sure you take them. part of successfully completing your treatment is taking your medication. We are going to monitor your levels every month to make sure you are keeping up with the medication
Zeda: Yes mam
[hard cut]
Teresa: every month there will be a meeting of myself, Dr.Kerns, and some of the staff to asses how you are progressing in your treatment. your progress will be measured from 1-4, you cannot move up in a level until you have achieved an equivalent scoring overall on your treatment plan.
Zeda: So whats level 4
Teresa: thats when you graduate
[hard cut]
Zeda: So whats my IQ?
Monroe: Huh?
Zeda: I have taken that test before, i know its an IQ test
Monroe: Yes it was
Zeda: So whats my IQ?
Monroe. you are a regular smart ass kid... your going to do well here
[zeda leaves Monroe's office, Zeda leaves Zero room, zeda still sitting on Teresa's couch]
(Zeda stares at Teresa..still examining her face structure)
Teresa: Do i have something on my face (she says as she brushes her cheek)
Zeda: No, um... you just look like someone, thats all
