Just thought it would be interesting to share my journey around the Internet...
1) I started off on Total Fark when a video of the first PBS broadcast caught my eye
2) Searching for similar videos I found TV sign-off's including HBO
3) This made me search for and old TV station (WVII, Bangor Maine) and coverage of the fire at the transmitter
4) I didn't find that, but I found links about a New York TV Station fire (WABC)
5) That made me think of how New York Stations might have survived 9/11 (They didn't, except for WCBS, which has a back up transmitter at Empire State)
6) I noted in a story that the Emergency Alert System was not activated during the 9/11 events
7) Reading a Wikipedia article on EAS it talked about the Nuclear Football (The case that travels with the president)
8) I discovered that the Nuclear Football was left behind during the Clinton Administration when the President left a meeting in haste, leaving the military officer behind, he walked back to the White House.
Pretty wierd day?
