boats from aircraft carriers (H.M.C.S. Bonaventure) in the mid 60s to 70 canoes and kayaks from when I was 10 and up until now have built several in the last few years. and cut up a few of my own hate to see them go but the largest of them Cleo 4 was 50 years old 42 foot Yawl custom designed by Philip Rhodes and built of teak and mahogany varnish to the water she was beautiful and fast under sail she could run with the very best of them and placed well in racing. in the end hot cliamates and fresh water were her down fall and she had very quietly decided to sink. when recovered and hauled I discovered that she had become dangerous and would have probably broke up in heavy seas and sinking in those conditions can be fatal. sadly the stainless steel bolts in the keel that had been placed in the after end replacing the original bronze bolts proved to be a disaster. (poultice corrosion had reduced them to only 10% size and strength 9000 pounds of lead hanging on string.
