Interests
Interests...
{I hope there is room}
I'll start with a former interest, that was cut short,(damned insurance companies are sneeky!!!)
I hang-glided for a while...
loved the exhileration...
the butt-clenching-terror when you first take flight...
the euphoric sensations as you bank, and find yourself riding the wind...
then that same.. even more inTENse, butt-clenching, as you realise that now you HAVE to land this thing!!!!
They caught me.. So a clause was added to my policy...
I simply took up my old athletic passion,
{along with the arts, and wood which, at this time were both full-blown-passions... (this was before I combined the two)}...
I went back to free-climbing.
I was once asked why I would climb up a 300 foot rock face without ropes...
I really was unable to answer right away...
after scanning my memory it came to me ...
"It's because I'm afraid of heights" is what I said in reply.
lol
It sounds crazy..
but I am still afraid of heights..
which makes me a damned good free climber.
Reading has been a passion since earliest recollection, as is writing.
At 13 I won my first of 3 music scholarships...
learned to read and write music... and wrote my first song...
which was more or less a poem, put to a three chord progression {the three chords that I had learned by watching,during rehearsals, the guitar players in the band I had formed, }...
I suppose it falls under the characterist, "country tune"...{no ex wives, no dogs, or horses.. though there was an eagle mentioned, no pick-up trucks}
I love to fish, hike, sled, and watch the sun set.
I love nature.. period.
I have a thirst for information that has not subsided since I was around 10 yrs old...
so I read ..
pretty much religiously...
I can't really go too long, without some influx of info.
I love poetry, have read pretty much all the classics...{am reading hugos' les miserables, again,and La Morte D' Arthur, at the moment}
My favorite poet is Ben Jonson, {one of willy shakespears' buddies}...
I love wood... and the beautiful things that can be createdwith, and by it.
Though rarely is the time I partake...
I do enjoy a glass of wine, wrapped in warm fluffy bath-robes, curled up in front of a fire place...
...or sitting and standing{I stand alot]... around a camp-fire...
watching the flick-licking flames reaching, and laughing at the outrageous banter that ensues at those times when good people gather, remotely, beneath the sky,
and share a few beverages, and feastings, where the monkeys on ones back, are left far behind in the city.
{I personally live far from the city lights}
I love sitting on the shore of that greatest of lakes, as the sun sets...
love watching the stars blink on, one at a time...
till the glassy water reflects the trillions of blinking-suns and the Aurora Borealis does her dance accross the night-sky.
I love discovery, and adventure..
challenge,
and my country.
most of all...
I love to see my Princess-brat smile...(which thankfully, is not all that hard to do)
and love knowing that the other Princess...{the brats' artsy-fartsy older sister}...is on course and progressing at that incredible rate that defies logic.
Music
At the other end of this link, is a few old songs that I recorded, some time ago..
Me myself, a couple of accoustic guitars, a crappy 15 dollar mic, and a recording program that I had NO idea how to use properly. Hence, the crappy sound, and quality.
Not all the songs work, on that page, but I think enough do, that one can get the gist, or at least some of what it is I do, and how I do it.
Hardest, was having to get a decent rendition of the tune intended,
in one take...
no splicing skills involved here, nor fancey "tweeking-of the-flat-spots-in-the-voice", as , like I said
I had no idea, how to operate recording programs.
Still, if at any point you listen... and smile slightly..
or find anything reflective in the words, or the expression of them,
then my job is done.
{sorry it's not tagged, and therefore one has to copy&paste the addy into their brouser,to get there}
