We are not our descriptions; these paragraphs only report who we think we are and how we'd like others to see us. They can only be incomplete (who, after all, dwells on their inevitable inconsistencies and contradictions?). While there may be a stable core "self," it is expressed in different ways with different people at different times. So as you read this, don't think "this is who he is." Ask yourself instead "who would he be with me, and who would I be with him?"

That said, I'm verbally adept individual with wide-ranging interests, experiences and skills. I'm somewhat reserved at first but I'm comfortable in a wide range of social settings, from small-town bars to midtown Manhattan restaurants. I try to balance a life of the mind, hands-on hobbies I enjoy art galleries, theatre and dance, local events and concerts, eating out or staying in with a good DVD or a game of Scrabble.
Friends will describe me as helpful, caring, compassionate, patient, humorous (often at my own expense) and, inevitably, after all, to care deeply about things most people don't even think about.

So what am I looking for? Companionship and conversation, first and foremost, with the potential for a deeper connection over time. I'm looking for someone who is independent, creative, smart, fit, confident, and accomplished; someone who demands to be treated as an equal rather than as an accessory or as weekend entertainment; someone who doesn't expect to be pampered but who does expect respect; someone who can accommodate my commitment to my work.
