I am very much an outdoor person. I enjoy watersports (sailing,canoeing and surfing), walking and hillclimbing in the countryside. I like feeling the wind on my face and the satisfaction of doing a thing well. I appriciate landscape, seascape and remote and wild places.

My second main focus is reading modern novels, my recent favourits are "Blackberry Wine" by Joanne Harris and "The Shipping News" by Annie Proux

I enjoy listening to Music but don't know a lot about it. Mainly classical, jazz, blues and folk.

I am a professional metallurgist/materials scientist, working in research and development. The main focus of my work at present is mathematical modelling and programing.
