Interests
I love reading about history and current events, especially politics. I love discussing politics with anyone and everyone, given they are respectful and have an open mind. Some of my favorite quotes are as follows:
1. "I believe in the soul, the cock, the pussy, the small of a woman's back, the hanging curve ball, high fiber, good scotch, that the novels of Susan Sontag are self-indulgent, overrated crap. I believe Lee Harvey Oswald acted alone. I believe there ought to be a constitutional amendment outlawing Astroturf and the designated hitter. I believe in the sweet spot, soft-core pornography, opening your presents Christmas morning rather than Christmas Eve and I believe in long, slow, deep, soft, wet kisses that last three days." Crash Davis, Bull Durham
2. "The sacred rights of mankind are not to be rummaged for among old parchments or musty records. They are written, as with a sunbeam, in the whole volume of human nature, by the hand of the divinity itself; and can never be erased".
-Alexander Hamilton
3. "Accept the challange so you can feel lthe exilaration of victory". General George S. Patton
4. "When the leaders choose to make themselves bidders at an auction of popularity, their talents, in the construction of the state, will be of no service. They will become flatterers instead of legislators; the instruments, not the guides, of the people".
-Edmund Burke
5. "Each player must accept the cards life deals him or her: but once they are in hand, he or she alone must decide how to play the cards in order to win the game".
-Voltaire
6. "In general, the art of government consists of taking as much money as possible from one class of citizens to give to another".
-Voltaire
7. "Liberty is not a means to a higher political end. It is itself the highest political end".
-Lord Acton
8. "One life is all we have and we live it as we believe in living it. But to sacrifice what you are and to live without belief, that is a fate more terrible than dying".
-Joan of Arc
9. "Youth is easily deceived because it is quick to hope".
-Aristotle
10. "The courts must declare the sense of the law and if they should be disposed exercise will, instead of judgment, the consequences would be the substitution of their pleasure for that of the legislative body".
-Alexander Hamilton
11. "I am for doing good to the poor, but I differ in opinion of the means. I think the best way of doing good to the poor, is not making them easy in poverty, but leading or driving them out of it. In my youth I travelled much, and I observed in different countries, that the more public provisions were made for the poor, the less they provided for themselves, and of course became poorer. And, on the contrary, the less was done for them, the more they did for themselves, and became richer".
-- Ben Franklin
112. "If, drunk with sight of power, we loose Wild tongues that have not Thee in awe-- Such boasting as the Gentiles use Or lesser breeds without the law-- Lord God of Hosts, be with us yet, Lest we forget - lest we forget!" -Rudyard Kipling
