Elephant Nature Park, a unique conservation project set in Chiang Mai Province, Northern Thailand has been in operation since in the 1990's with a goal to provide a sanctuary and elephant rescue center. We have been involved in dozens of rescues and sustain a natural home for this endangered species. This page is for friends of Elephant Nature Park and others seeking information about our efforts.
Our Aims # To provide sanctuary for endangered species: We provide homes for these animals as well as contributing to their welfare and development. # Rain Forest Restoration: One of the most exciting developments at the park is our programme of tree planting the surrounding area. The ecological balance of plants and animals will be encouraged by the re-introduction of the rain forest. Some 25 acres of the mountainside will be planted every year for the first 5 years. # Cultural Preservation: To maintain, as much as possible, the cultural integrity of the local community. By creating employment and purchasing agricultural products locally we are assisting the villagers in sustaining their distinct culture. Park managers are recruited locally to oversee the park's progress. # Visitors Education : To educate visitors, individuals, study groups, schools and interested parties. Emphasis on the plight of the endangered local species will be presented in an entertaining and constructive manner. Future phases will include audio / visual equipment and other modern educational aids. It is anticipated that small conferences and workshops will be organised at the park.

elephantnaturepark The rain has stopped, leaving the air crystal clear and sweet. The herd trample on the dewy grass and rumble with delight in the freshness of the new day.
Our new park guest hut is made from earth. In the future we will change bamboo huts to adobe because it is stronger and more in keeping with our environment. http://doiop.com/parkrooms
60 years old female elephant, name Kwan Jai, from Surin was brought to Elephant Nature Park by Lek and ENP staff after visiting Elephant festival at Surin.
ENP Volunteers last week had enjoyed Loy Kratong festival on Saturday Night, November 20 with the elephants and park staff in Elephant Nature Park, so the volunteer had learned more about Thai tradition.
Volunteers walked with 2 elephants, Phu Gee and Mae Khum, from trekking camp in Mae Taeng to Mae Satop for over a week, staying in various villages along the way.
Our overnight guests will do a morning walk to our elephants in the park in the fielder and say hi to them. They will learn more about our herd's past and how they're recovering from it.
Thanks to the support of our visitors, the project will proceed toward development of natural elephant life, Karen family groups including school and helping the Karen woman to increase their income.
Education is very important. At the park you can learn all about these wonderful creatures at our award winning conservation park and the beautiful surrounding area.
