Entertain me on the road

Prologue

I started the job I am at now 8 years ago.  It was in customer service, placing orders, dealing with complaining customers, finding new ways I hated my life.

A year later I moved into resolutions as a specialist.  It was exciting, I was learning and growing, building reports, and solving problems for our customers.  I was also learning how to fuck up an order, and all the possible ways we could do it.

This skill set came in handy in 2013 when I was tasked to train an alpha team on a specialized skill in customer service.  Basically, my boss was auditioning me for a job he was planning on hiring me for.  A year later I was moved to quality assurance.

Which, for the record, I hate.  Poring through reports and looking for errors is awesome, but listening to calls and trying not to laugh at how stupid the customers sound - actually, no.  They were fine.  It was the team that made me laugh.

This job also came with a project I was very excited about - training.  And I've trained over 100 people in the last three years to do what I do best, to pass on my knowledge, and to ensure their success.

My boss also pegged me to train our outsourced support team in Maine.  I've been there 4 times.  I love the state and the people I worked with were amazing.  There I trained another 60 people in two years to do what I do.

My new boss, circa 2016, came on board.  We had a new project with a major international company that needed a customer support team for a new product.  I was brought in as the trainer and supervisor for the team.  Six months later, we did it again, and I continued in the same role.  This spring, we did it a third time, this time as trainer and project leader.  A lot more hands on this time around, and my boss gave me some great comments after.

The thing with the last two projects:  Travelling.

I love driving.  Whether it's to Maine or Boston or South Carolina, I'll go where the wind takes me.  In my younger days, I would drive for hours just to drive.  Now, it clears my head and allows me to detox from everything I go through.

When I was in radio, I would be on the road a lot.  I worked on the East End of Long Island.  I worked in Manhattan.  I've worked for most of the local radio stations.  I did a gig in Boston one weekend in 94.  And for a year I worked at a three-station combo in South Carolina.

Back to now, I find myself doing a lot of driving again.  I love doing what I do, and I love teaching new people what I do so they can do it, too.

But let's get to the point, shall we?

I am going to be in the Boston area, near Salem, from August 6 through August 16.  I already have dinner plans on Monday with the VP or Sales Marketing Manager Director of New Acquisitions Affairs or something.

Who wants to kidnap me and show me Beantown at night or during the weekend I am there?

Liquor?  I'll buy.

Dinner?  I'll buy.

Hookers?  Blow?

Just kidding about the last part, but let's do it!

Seriously... entertain me, my Mass peoples!
