What can I say I am the weird one your mother warned you about. I am fairly open minded and make friends easily as long as they are not hung up on my interests.

Originally this was going to be a rant about what I hate about FU DJs I think instead I will share a few tips.
10 tips that will help you not be a ipod SAM monkey Jukebox dork and sound more professional.
1. Create a play list ahead of time think of what the tracks will sound like next to each other try to use beats per minute adjustments slowly to build an audience up only do big changes in tempo occasionally like maybe less than 20% of the time. Always have at least one thing connecting the songs together.(more later on this)
2. SAM sucks it allows you no control over your mix and you can not do any effects tricks or manually control anything. In Short its holding you back.
3. You don't have to play every request if something is awful don't ruin your mix with it or leave it for a awful section I mean request section of your set. Your DJing not your audience. Better yet Work it into your set more on that next.
4. When arranging tracks in your playlist think of at least one thing that connects the track to the next. There is tempo or beats per minute. Root Key (the key the song harmonizes at using what is called the circle of fifths will take a while to explain google it) The subject matter of the song example songs about a strong woman next one could be too.
5. Don't clash your Genre unless there's some sort of dramatic break down. When you change Genre don't just play one song in that genre play 4 or 5. Then Transition slowly to the next genre. Example of a clash Heavy Metal > Gospel NO BAD OUCH HURTS DON'T IT but try instead Heavy Metal > Softer More Spiritual Metal > A upbeat spiritual country song > Gospel play a few of them then transition back to something a little more upbeat.
6. Don't clash your key if you have something that's in the Key of A don't play something next that's in the key of G it will clash thing 3 5 and 7 Root keys of 3 5 or 7 keys away harmonize as a general rule either up or down. The same key will not clash but it will cancel out and sound crappy unless one of the tracks just drops down to a drum loop I might make a youtube video explaining this. You can use rapid evolution a piece of free software to analyze your songs if your tone deaf You can download a circle of fifths wheel from a lot of websites. Send me a message if you need the links for these.
7 When talking don't POP your P's and T's in other words say it don't spray it, Keep in mind you need to talk clearly but not over loudly or too quiet or your mic work will go on deaf ears or worse yet make someone deaf. Don't mumble.
8 Don't over use your effects I am sometimes guilty of this I just love stroking my kaosspad but it sounds like shit when its too much. Think drama not constant. You want to dramatically enhance your performance not drown it in re-verb or whatever.
9 Record a bumper it makes you sound professional its also useful for sticking it next to two songs who just wont mix.
10 Kinda works better in real life but Pay attention to how your audience reacts and adjust your set accordingly If they are grooving to certain types of tracks play more but not too many or they will get bored. Try to keep the girls dancing the guys will fallow. But no Girls will get on a dance floor filled with guys unless your at a gay club.

Practice and enjoy have fun. but hone your skills.
