I was ridin on an old dirt road, one saturday chewin tobacco jus mindin my own. And out of nowhere I saw a silhouette of a man pop up and i got a chill run through my bones. He had a case on his side, Stetson hat on top, and long blonde hair runnin down his back. Had some sweat beadin on his forehead, and a pick in his hand and an old Merle Haggard guitar strap. He turned his head and he looked at me, dropped his chin and pulled his shades down off his eyes. Then my hair stood up, the breeze started to blow and I just knew I was in for a surprise! See he, nodded his head and he opened his case I was nervous with no real place to go. I wanted to start asking him some questions and all, but he sang me all I ever wanted to know. He said, "I went down to the old crossroads, the devil came and the story goes. I made a deal of my very own, and I got the fame but I lost my soul. I went down, down to the fire below yea!"
There comes a point in every mans life when you gotta make the call, heads your wrong, tails your right. You never really know where to go and who to trust with your soul. But if you wanna reach the top, you better find a crossroads.
