Widower; my wife/soul mate/partner/best friend Martha died on 12 June 2007 after a long battle with breast cancer.

I am seeking conversations/feedback/correspondence with anyone who has dealt with cancer or whose SO has gone through terminal cancer; conversations with anyone (male/female/whatever) who has lost a loved one/soul mate to death of any kind.

How does one cope with that? How does one go on living, and honoring what one had with one's soul mate? That's the main reason I'm here.

Interests
General: camping, particularly in the redwoods, sequoias, the Sierra Nevadas, and the Mt. Shasta/Siskayu/Cascades and similar mountainous areas.

I also enjoy fishing using my 10' boat, particularly when camping - nothing like fresh trout or bass for breakfast!. I love walking in the rain, thunderstorms, and fog, particularly when in the forests, mountains, and by the ocean - and even more so when all three are combined (think Northern California coast, Oregon coast, Washington coast.

My main hobby is woodworking, followed by computers. For relaxation (and to unwind from stress) I play first-person shooter (FPS) computer games such as Doom, Halo, Quake, and Half-life). I enjoy plinking (target shooting) with guns, and archery to a lesser extent - and yes, I am an NRA member, largely because their safety (archery and firearms) courses are the absolute best - and being a gun safety instructor is one of my goals.

Books: Tolkein's Trilogy of the Rings, hard science fiction, historical fiction, some space opera (such as the Honor Harrington, Bolo, Known Space (Nivin), Ringworld, and Kzin series), Narnia; Poetry (T.S. Elliott, e.e. cummings, Emily Dickenson, hard military thrillers (Dale Brown, Clancey), more (see above as well).

Movies: Trilogy of the Rings, The Green Mile, Labrynth, Narnia, Matrix, Pink Floyd's The Wall, the entire Mariachi series, Independance Day, Star Wars, Ice Age I, THX-1138, Lion King, Dark Crystal, Shrek 1 and 2, The Crow series, Prince of Egypt, Brother Bear, Armegeddon, Rambo, Lethal Weapon, Predator, Deep Impact, Fried Green Tomatoes, 2001, Die Hard, Roots, Kill Bill, Pan's Labyrinth - a lot more.
Music
Enya, Pink Floyd, Kitaro, Moody Blues, Yanni, Animals, strong classical (no opera!), Rolling Stones, Johny Cash, Native American, Monkeys, Herman's Hermits, Kansas, Kitaro, ELO, Kansas, Metallica, Wierd Al Yankovitch, Sons of the Pioneers, C.W. McCall, Red Sovine, Johnny Cash, Simon and Garfunkle - much more, very eclectic
Video Games
First-person shooters. Halo, Doom, Half-life, Breed, Quake...
