A friend just called and asked if I wanted to go fishing. I asked for a few details and he said we can either take his brother's boat or just sit and fish off the pier. Fishing from the pier would be less hassle, but in the boat, I could bring a few beers for the time we'll be out there. He doesn't drink, so I would have a built-in DB (Designated Boater).

Should we just fish from the pier or take the boat and make a day of it?
