Poor fu pony after all the polishing....

RIP Ronnie James Dio

You know of Dio, most known of his time with Sabbath, many know of Rainbow. Some of his best music was with Elf in my opinion. A video is in the 1st comment

Recently I was reminded of my 1st speeding ticket. I was 18 at the time and had just bought a car for $100 from a couple I worked with.  Sure it stalled at stoplights, but it was a 1971 Dodge Charger painted brilliant white with a maroon hood scoop, heavy metal imagery, racing stripes, and one of those tiny racing steering wheels. It was a car you might have seen in Christine or Deathproof, had the latter been released at that time.

I also was part of the floor show at Rocky Horror- Frank no less. The theatre usually liked to close up ASAP after the midnight movies so it was common for me to throw street clothes on over my costume and wait until I got home to wash off the stage makeup. That night was no exception.

On the way home, a Mustang full of girls pulled up beside me on Independence Blvd. They were honking, waving and smiling and one of them pointed ahead as they put the pedal to the metal . Since it was 2AM with no other cars around and the section of road had no side streets, and since I was a young male, I took the bait.  Within a second or two we were doing 85 -95mph for the next mile or so through the S turns and my adrenaline was pumping as the engine roared and the tires hugged the turns. It was the epitomal “in the moment” moment when time was suspended and only the experience existed.

We were approaching the commercial sprawl so I backed down and resumed normal speed for the next few blocks before the blue lights appeared in my mirror.

I can only imagine what was going through that cops mind as he approached a wildly painted muscle car driven by a man dressed as Dr Frank N Furter.  Luckily for me and them, the lion had its antelope and the girls were free and clear. I managed to only get a ticket for 45 in a 35 zone.

My dad didn’t learn about the ticket until months later but he disapproved of the car, so I had to give it back to the previous owners and eat the $100 loss, but the memory always remained.

The wretched desert takes its form, the jackal proud and tight
In search of you, I feel my way, though the slowest heaving night
Whatever fear invents, I swear it make no sense
I reach through the border fence
Come down, come talk to me
In the swirling, curling storm of desire unuttered words hold fast
With reptile tongue, the lightning lashes towers built to last
Darkness creeps in like a thief and offers no relief
Why are you shaking like a leaf
Come on, come talk to me
Ah please talk to me
Won't you please talk to me
We can unlock this misery
Come on, come talk to me
{Chorus 1:}
I did not come to steal
This all is so unreal
Can't you show me how you feel now
Come on, come talk to me
Come talk to me [x2]
The earthly power sucks shadowed milk from sleepy tears undone
From nippled skin as smooth as silk the bugles blown as one
You lie there with your eyes half closed like there's no-one there at all
There's a tension pulling on your face
Come on, come talk to me
Won't you please talk to me
If you'd just talk to me
Unblock this misery
If you'd only talk to me
{Chorus 2:}
Don't you ever change your mind
Now your future's so defined
And you act so deaf and blind
[And you act so deaf so blind]
Come on, come talk to me
Come talk to me [x2]
I can imagine the moment
Breaking out through the silence
All the things that we both might say
And the heart it will not be denied
'Til we're both on the same damn side
All the barriers blown away
I said please talk to me
Won't you please come talk to me
Just like it used to be
Come on, come talk to me
I did not come to steal
This all is so unreal
Can you show me how you feel now
Come on, come talk to me
Come talk to me [x2]
I said please talk to me
If you'd just talk to me
Unblock this misery
If you'd only talk to me
[Chorus 2]

wow thanks Dad

So today my eldest son tuned 21. A happy day right? You would be correct up until I read my dad's post to him on FaceBook:

Happy Birthday Cameron!!! Remembering [my dad's wife] and I went down to Orlando to see you shortly after you were born and giving your father a camera outfit to take pictures of you...never did get the first picture.

Gee thanks for throwing me under the bus and demeaning me directly and by association. Did you consider that I was an E-3 in the Navy at the time stretching money just to buy necessities for my family (not to mention the wife running up a huge phone bill every month)? Did you consider that I was studying Nuclear Propulsion 16 hours a day? Did you ever expressedly tell me that was why you gave me the camera? You got the see him 3 or 4 times that year when we visited.

In any case what good can come from that statement 20 years later posted where  the audience is mostly ex inlaws who think you and I are the devil incarnate? (this is not hyperbole, this is literal btw folks. My ex FiL managed to have me barred from seeing my kids over religion Ask me if you want to know more) Did you consider how hard I have worked to reestablish rapport with my son and how much I worked to convince him that you were worth reconnecting with as well?

Thanks for putting me in a position where I either have to essentially plead no lo contende to your statement by saying nothing, or adding  more negativity to my son's page on his birthday by addressing it there.

What were you thinking?

It's sciencey!

What's that you say? Scientists ru through a vocoder and set to music? Chexk out the video in the 1st comment

I have always seemeed to work best when self-employed and think I have found a good niche.

As I have already told a few of you directly, I started doing title examinations for insurance companies today. Title insurance is different from most insurance. Most insurance protects against things that occur in the future. Tiltle insurance protects against the past. As an examiner, I will mke sure that there will be no way for someone to sue a property owner for the validity of the deed.

I did two titles today. One was very simple and straight forward. The other was a true baptism by fire. This single piece of property had 7 mortages on it from 1979-2006 with the same two ladies deeding it back and forth for each mortgage under 5 variants of their names. 3 of the mortgages got bought by other mortgage companies. I had to find each deed, mortgage, discharge of mortgage, assigment of mortage, check for errors in them,  and photograph them all

This service will be done for a flat rate per property unles there is one that is even hairier than today's in which case I will be able to add a surcharge to the research.

About last night

A friend got a few videos from the ball last night I will be posting them in the comments.

I will be stashing them as well since the wide screen format does not work in blog comments

Hawkwind- Steppenwolf

You can see my eyes are lupine
The liquid golden fires glare
My loping walk, my slinking spine
Are signs that there is something there
The way my nostrils flare for odours
The way my ears prick up for sound
My hair's electrically aware
Tells me things for miles around
I am a man-wolf, I am a wolf man
I have half a canine mind
I have half the mind of man
I am neither of one kind
Maybe it was only an hallucination
I'm no stranger to such things
I made a thorough investigation
The image had a power that clings
To my jaded imagination
My brain has found the bells it rings

Like a wolf my wilful loafing
My languishing alone in my lair
Where you will never hear me laughing
I'm half in love with dark and despair
The Moon's a howling, mouth of mercury
Quicksilver quivering in the sky
It echoes like a cave of chromium
That'll vacuum up my soul when I die
I am a wolf man, I am a man-wolf

A freak, a fiend, a figment of mind
A species of the steppes and city

I am neither of one kind
Dissolving in the slendour of this desolation
The forest has been filled by a fog
Exactly a description of my isolation
I made a note of it in my log
To the secret of all creation
I follow my own trail like a dog

I am a wolf man who walks alone in the gas lamp
Shadows of the streets at night
I am a man-wolf upright on two feet in the
city dressed somberly as a man
I am a wolf man under skies heavy with snow
My eyes are convex lenses of ebony embedded
in amber
I am a man-wolf
The fat bourgeois and his dopple ganger
are buried in their solid glare
Twin specimens of insect set for display
I am a man-wolf, the man in me would kill the wolf
I am a wolf man, the wolf in me would eat the man
I am a wolf man, who despises the striving of common men
Who sees them at work, at their daily tasks
at factories and office desk
Who watches them at evening, elbows lift at tavern tables,
heads lolling in song
Ich weiss nicht wat ik zagen zollen

I saw a neon sign reflected in a pool of liquid sky
It was not what I expected I was only walking by
The sign said "to the magic theatre"
It is not for everyone
It is but for madmen only, the first performance has begun
I looked up to see that notice where the lights were
shining from
Nothing but blank wall was there
and their reflection too was gone
Maybe it was only an hallucination
I'm no stranger to such things
I made a thorough investigation
The image had a power that clings
To my jaded imagination
My brain has found the bell it rings
