My Life 2
My whole life has been a war of sorts. Now that my existence is somewhat of a happy one, it all became meaningless. So, my mind gave me a new struggle so that I can live. At first this frightened me, but I have come to accept it with my whole heart. Road Trip

For those that don't know, The Walking Dead is essentially the TV version of the Dawn of the Dead / 28 Days Later style zombie-fest. I've started watching this recently and it opens with the guy coming out of a coma to find that the world has been overrun with zombies. My problem with it is, after he sees everything that goes on and after someone explains to him that the dead come back to life and try to eat the living, etc, etc, he doesn't say "So what we're dealing with here is zombies, right?" In fact, at no point has anyone even uttered the word 'zombie'. I find this quite bizarre. Have none of them ever watched a zombie movie? They're just the same.

..starting to feel a bit better about myself. The self-confidence is returning. I had a really killer workout on Wednesday that my arms are still sore from. I've been getting out into the garage and hitting the punching bag. I actually had to fix the chain though. I hit the damn thing so hard I busted the old one. Went for a jog on Monday, that was cool, haven't done that for a while. Had to stop around 2 miles though. Guess I have to work my way back up again. I ordered some of those Vibram Fivefingers shoes. I hear they're really supposed to help develop your legs, and honestly, I see (almost) barefoot running as the most natural exercise there is. The depression is going away, which I see as a good sign. Turns out in my little funk I put on about 10lbs. It happens. Just gotta keep myself motivated and keep working at it.

This is the one day of the year that is in honor of all American Military Veterans, from all times.> > Who are the veterans ? The Geek In Me
The geek in me is just all thrilled that today is 11/11/11. Throw in Veterans Day, Friday, and Pay Day, well its a good day over all. I think everyone should thank a Vet today, but not me, thank a different Vet. (I talked about this last year) I also kind of think that Veterans day should expand to also cover Police and Fireman veterans. They are also people that serve the community and put their lives on the lines for the sake of other people.

Veteran's Day
I chose a path at age 18 that more than a few have gone. I left home and friends behind for four years to find myself and be a part of a bigger picture. I was a soldier. I served overseas and spent many days and nights in the cold mud. I was sent in harm's way and sweated in the stifling heat for four months. I never saw direct combat or lost a close friend to enemy fire but I still served. And I ...served proud. I made new brothers and sisters during my enlistment those whom I still hold in high regard and am proud to say I walked in the ranks with. We were soldiers and they are my family still to this day. My time in service pales in comparison to the ones who serve today. My sacrifices are small compared to what is endured now. I salute the soldiers that are serving now, keeping my freedom and my boys' future way of living safe. I hope one day my children can say "there was my dad. He was a soldier. He served proud."

So my depression meds were not working and I had an emergency appointment with my psychiatrist and he started me on Abilify. I was on 2mg for a week, then 5mg for a week and finally 7.5mg is what I'm taking now.
