But why oh, why is it just for that one day
That these heartfelt resolutions we all say
Each and every new day that will ever dawn
Is yet another chance for us to all be reborn

As the light fades tonight on all that's been
The present becomes past and all we've seen
The darkness eats away at all we've known
Only dreams carry the memories we're shown

Then as the light begins to spread once more
As daylight breaks we walk on through the door
To a brand new day, that has only just begun
To all that's new under the new warming sun

A new day just like each one we've already had
Where to just have survived we should be so glad
New opportunities to achieve all that we can
Stand so tall and proud beside our fellowman

Yes take this day as you take each new year
To forget all that's gone and walk away from fear
Face the future with lessons learnt from the past
Walk out into the light from all that you've passed

Live each day to be the best that you can be
Forgive yourself and then set yourself free
What has gone will never return the same
It's only the memories that will ever remain

So make your resolutions on this new years eve
But this i tell you, you must really start to believe
That it is you, yourself that will make it all happen
Each day that you remember yesterdays lesson
