This is a long mumm, but please read it, I really need some advice!!! My 5 yr old son has been diagnosed with early onset conduct disorder-It is a very difficult thing to deal with, espescially when he has everything a child can want!! Love, attention, great family home-life!! The thing that I need advice about is he has been on different meds to control his extremely aggressive and destructive outbursts, but they are not working very well. He was in a hosp to get his meds adjusted once, w/out success. He has been seeing a new child psychologist and she would like to see him admitted again, in a different hosp, that is 2 hours from my home. She says that this hosp. is wonderful in dealing with children with conduct disorder. Should I send him? His psych. says it would be easier to monitor and adjust his meds inpatient rather than outpatient. I don't know what I should do! I mean I don't want to send my 5 year old boy to a psych ward, but He need help, before he seriosly hurts someone again! I am having a very hard time with this!! I try and try and try to make him happy, but all his does is act out soooooo defiantly. I mean I am not talking about a kid just saying no, I am talking about a kid who gets violent, over virtually nothing! Like I will tell him, It's time to eat dinner, wash up and come to the table-instead, he will come to the table and take his plate and throw it across the room at me!! I am scared about making the wrong choice-I don't want him to resent me for sending him, but I do want to get this under control! Please give me only postive feedback-I am really going through a rough time and do not want to deal with mean comments! Thank you to those who took the time to read this! |
