There is this poem I really like by Pedro Salinas. I only found a Spanish and an Italian version for it so i was thinking about translating it in english. I wrote two different versions that are similar but I cut the verb to be in the first part in the second one basically.. I am not sure which one is better... Help me decide..
1)your way to love me is
letting me love you.
silence is a yes,
just how you give in.
Giving me your lips to kiss
these are your kisses.
No speech
no embrace
shall ever reveal you existed
nor that you loved me: never.
Blank sheets, maps, phones, signs,
they will, but not you.
And I lay in your arms,
not daring to ask,for I fear
that you are not real
that you are not alive
that you don't love me.
And I lay in your arms,
not daring to look at nor touch you.
May I never know- with questions, with caresses-the infinite
loneliness of being just me loving you.
