Let me begin by saying that I am no way trying to offend, hurt, anger or embarass anyone by writing this blog.
I'm writing this to let you know about my experience playing the ranking game this past week in fubar.
I woke up this morning #5 ranked in fubar and #7 top chick of the week. Let me tell you how I got here.
FYI: Top ranks are posted on Thursdays for those that dont know...so if playing the ranking game your week starts thursday
and ends the next wed night at midnight fu time. You have 3 ranks....(Someone please correct me if I'm wrong) your fubar
daily rank on your home page is basically point based...how many points you received in the past 24 hours. The ranking
that shows up on your profile under your name is rate based...how many people rated your profile in the past 24 hours. So, with that being said...to play the ranking game you arent necessarily going for points but profile rates. When a user
runs a famp or a god mode everyone in their family gets the rates that they get. The more famp/GM families that you are in
the more rates you get.
Objective: get in to as many famp/GM families that you can! This is done by trading or buying in to others fams. You're
going to need:
1. Alot of credits (this is for buying in and to also run famps etc to get yourself noticed and for trading spots)
2. Time
3. Patience
4. A thick skin
5. Not be too proud to beg! (haha now I'm thinking about the song "I ain't too proud to beg!" )
6. Some friends to help you along the way.
Last thursday I noticed two new "reds" aka top 10 ranks. Honestly for as long as Ive been on fu I've basically seen the same
people week after week in top 10. I've tried ranking in the past by buying in to fams etc but I think the highest I ever ranked
was #19 top chick of the week....so I thought...well if they can do it, I'm gonna try for it also! So off I go to buy a ton of
credits....
I started running my bling and started looking for every famp/GM user I could find...jumping in their shoutboxes and
asking for a fam spot.
Some people were very nice and sold me spots.
Some people just added me for nothing...and to those I owe a huge THANK YOU!
Some said "I'll add you...youve been so nice to me in the past" Karma right? :) That made me feel good.
Some ignored me all together.
Some got snippy with me and said "no" I just said "thank you anyway" and moved on.
Some were nice and declined my offer in which they deserve a huge THANK YOU also for being patient with me.
Some people were happy to trade because I was running famps also.
I did this everyday for a week...didnt stop...you cant afford to or you'll lose rates. You must at least attempt to get in
everyones fam you can find! and also rate ALL of the ability bling users especially the boomerangs...you get a rate back,
right? You need those RATES RATES RATES!
The amazing thing? Some of these top 10 users jumped in MY shoutbox and offered to help...gave advice and even sent me
links to people selling fam spots. I think some people have labeled the top 10 as "holier than thou, think theyre better than
us" people. I think everyone should be judged as an individual based on their actions not as a group. Even I have been guilty
in the past of thinking that they are untouchable or think they are better than the rest of fubar. I will admit...some are in it for the game...not looking for friends and not willing to help so they can keep their rank week to
week. The WOMEN are more competitive than the MEN too!!! The men have it easy! lol.
In the process of playing this "game" I also noticed a darker side of ranking. I came across a few users that arent interested
in what you have to say...they dont care about you...they just want in your fam and they dont care about trading with you to
share. They just want those rates! Remember people, we are all human beings on the other side of the computer screen. I
heard about and witnessed other fu members saying nasty things about others...making fun of the way people look or the
way theyre dressed etc. Really? I didnt realize fubar was middle school...why make others look bad to make yourself
look/feel better and to those I have to say...STOP BEING A BULLY! You are an adult...act like one. Take a step back and
remember the golden rule. It's fine to have a competitive nature...most of us are always up for a challenge...just dont
trample all over others on your way to the top! And because others arent in top 10 or highly ranked it in no way means that
they are beneath you or less important.
I played the game this week...and I met my objective. I'm red!!! I woke up in the middle of the night and jumped online just
to check! I'm happy about it!!! Will I continue to stay red? No. It was fun for the week but it was a helluva lot of work!
To the top 10's: Props to you for working so hard to stay that way!!! and thanks to those that helped me achieve my goal.
To people that think all "reds" are mean and think they're better than everyone: You're wrong. Most of them arent. They are
just like everybody else except they just like to play the game.
