About My FaithI am what I am & you cannot take that from me. I am what some call a Wiccan, others call a Pagan. Some would say I'm a heretic, others would call me blasphemous. I am not evil. I am not black nor white. I am the neutrality which is this universe & all things within it. Night to day. Hot to cold. I wear a pentacle about my neck & I praise the Old Ones. I call to the Guardians & I say goodnight to the Mother. I ask the Father for strength & I respect all faiths & beliefs. I do not judge & I choose not to be racist, sexist of narrow minded. I speak my prayers and devotions to myself in private & I seek no retribution on those who disagree. I will tell you of my beliefs yet I will not preach. I am.Just that - I am. I call myself "Wiccan" so others will know what I believe but I'm not the average "Wiccan" either. I am an "outlaw". I follow the ideals and the laws. I am an outlaw because I don't believe in "textbook witches". So many today have lost sight of the old ways. The old ones tell us that we have everything we need within ourselves. I see so many who buy a paperback by Raymond Buckland or Silver Ravenwolf and call themselves a witch. Yes. They're both brilliant authors and practitioners but I don't believe they meant for their books to become bibles. I was raised to believe that a spell is inside of you. A blessing or enchantment is a piece of you. Colours help. Magickal properties help. Timing helps. Those aren't everything.Witchcraft comes from Within.About MeI am a mom of four. I suffer from advanced Crohn's Disease. Its a nasty bowel disease and its almost killed me a few times. I've lived through childhood physical, emotional and sexual abuse. I've been a runaway, a streetkid, a dropout and a teen mom. I've lived through two rapes. One gave me my first child. I love her with all that I am but I hope her "father" burns. I've lived through domestic violence. I've almost taken my own life a few times. I suffer extreme stress/anxiety disorder and I've had bouts of severe clinical depression. I write. Poetry, prose, erotica, blogs, opinions and thoughts. I read. I am an amateur actress/model. I am an amateur photographer. I play at web design and I make dolls and graphics as well as desktop art. I draw on occasion and I like to sew. I cook. Man I make a killer clam chowder. I love to dance, listen to music, people watch, daydream and gossip. I love coffee. I adore cheesecake. I am a meat eater and proud of it. I am half hick and half city kid. I am a "militant flowerchild" meaning that I want peace and love but I'm not above fighting for my rights. I am bisexual and openminded. I am in love with the greatest man alive. I have the best friends who ever graced this humble planet. I am very fortunate.I am friend, sister, mother, lover, wife and above all I am"SURVIVOR"Favorite Quotes"It requires more courage to suffer than to die""You must travel outside yourself in order to find yourself""You are heading towards the point from whence you came""Mother is te name for God on the lips and hearts of all children.""Little things used to mean so much to Shelly. I used to think they were kinda trivial. Believe me, nothing's trivial.""You gonna do something or just stand there and bleed?""Ever dance with the devil in the pale moonlight?

The Thirteen Goals of a Witch: Know yourself Who are you? Do you really know all there is to know about yourself? Getting to know who we are is a life time journey. We are always growing and changing. Know your Craft The Craft. So many different ways of worship. So many traditions! Knowing your chosen Craft path doesn't end when you have read all the 'right' books or after initiation. That is, in a sense the beginning of knowing your Craft. Learn To achieve any of these goals, you must be on a constant quest to learn more. More about yourself, your Craft and the world around you. Apply knowledge with wisdom Some people seem to think that these 2 words are interchangeable. They are not. Knowledge is what you know. You gain knowledge through various forms of study. Wisdom is something else entirely. It is something that can not be taught. It is that which you gain through experience and intuition. Combine your knowledge with your wisdom. Achieve balance This seems to be something of a challenge as many of us have busy lives. We have many responsibilities and it can be difficult at times to just stop..take a deep breath , and put your personal priorities into perspective. This means creating balance in your life. Spiritual, emotional and physical. Keep your thoughts in good order Self explanatory. Keep your words in good order Self explanatory but the quotes "Speak little, listen much" come to mind, along with "Think before you speak". Celebrate life Enjoy your life! Celebrate it and all of the wonders it brings you. There is cause for celebration every day. From the simple things like waking up, enjoying a nice cup of tea or a warm bath to the more obvious ones. In Pagan books of days, you see that everyday is cause for celebration. Attune with the cycles of the Earth This can be a tough thing to do if your schedule seems destined to keep you indoors. Working long hours in a concrete building with no window, driving in grid lock traffic and then rushing to take care of your house hold tasks. Our ways worship the Earth and there are ways (no matter how busy you are) to attune with the cycles of the Earth. Breathe and eat correctly The importance of eating correctly is fairly obvious. You are what you eat. Unfortunately, since healthy living has come in to major focus, many have become confused about just what is and is not good for you. There are, however some foods that never come into question. Fresh fruits/ vegetables and grains. A balanced diet that includes these every day is essential. Breathing is something that is not discussed very much. There are yoga and meditation books and web pages that do discuss the importance of adopting a calm, slow and deep breathing pattern. Exercise the body Self explanatory. Meditate Meditation is (in my opinion) as important to your health, as a proper diet and regular exercise. It is also imperative, along with visualization for successful rituals, spells and divination. Honor the Goddess and God Self explanatory. The Law * We are of the Old Ways, among those who walk with the Goddess and God and receive Their love. * Keep the Sabbats and Esbats to the best of your abilities, for to do otherwise is to lessen your connection with the Goddess and God. * Harm none. This, the oldest law, is not open to interpretation or change. * Shed not blood in ritual; the Goddess and God need not blood to be duly worshipped. * Those of our ways are kind to all creatures, for hurtful thoughts are quiet draining and aren't worth the loss of energy. * Misery is self-created; so, too, is joy, so create joy and disdain misery and unhappiness. And this is within your power. So harm not. * Teach only what you know, to the best of your ability, to those students who you choose, butteach not to those who would use your instructions for destruction or control. Also, teach notto boost pride, forever remember: She who teaches out of love shall be enfolded in the arms of the Goddess and God. * Ever remember that if you would be of our way, keep the law close to your heart, for it is the nature of the Wicca to keep the Law. * If ever the need arises, any law may be changed or discarded, and new laws written to * replace them, so long as the new laws don't break the oldest law of all: Harm None. * Blessings of the Goddess and God on us all. by Scott Cunningham The Law of the Power * The Power shall not be used to bring harm, to injure or control others. But if the need rises, the Power shall be used to protect your life or the lives of others. * The Power is used only as need dictates. * The Power can be used for your own gain, as long as by doing so you harm none. * It is unwise to accept money for use of the Power, for it quickly controls its taker. Be not as those of other religions. * Use not the Power for prideful gain, for such cheapens the mysteries of Wicca and magick. * Ever remember that the Power is the sacred gift of the Goddess and God, and should never be misused or abused. * And this is the law of the Power. by Scott Cunningham Definition of a Modern Witch The Council of American Witches finds it necessary to define modern Witchcraft in terms of the American experience & needs. We are not bound by traditions from other times & other cultures, & owe no allegiance to any person or power greater than the Divinity manifest through our own being. As American Witches, we welcome & respect all life affirming teachings & traditions, & seek to learn from all & to share our learning within our Council. It is in this spirit of welcome & cooperation that we adopt these few principles of Wiccan belief. In seeking to be inclusive, we do not wish to open ourselves to the destruction of our group by those on self-serving power trips, or to philosophies & practices contradictory to these principles. In seeking to exclude those whose ways are contradictory to ours, we do not want to deny participation with us to any who are sincerely interested in our knowledge & beliefs, regardless of race, color, sex, age, national or cultural origins, or sexual preference. We therefore ask only that those who seek to identify with us accept these few basic principles: 1. We practice rites to attune ourselves with the natural rhythm of life forces marked by the phases of the Moon & the seasonal quarters & cross quarters. 2. We recognize that our intelligence gives us unique responsibility toward our environment. We seek to live in harmony with Nature, inecological balance offering fulfillment to life & consciousness within an evolutionary concept. 3. We acknowledge a depth of power far greater than is apparent to the average person. Because it is far greater than ordinary, it is sometimes called "supernatural," but we see it as lying within that which is naturally potential to all. 4. We conceive of the Creative Power in the Universe as manifesting through polarity - as masculine & feminine - & that this same creative Power lives in all people, & functions through the interaction of the masculine & feminine. We value neither above the other, knowing each to be supportive of the other. We value sexuality as pleasure, as the symbol & embodiment of Life, & as one of the sources of energies used in magickal practices & religious worship. 5. We recognize both outer worlds & inner, or psychological worlds sometimes known as the Spiritual World, the Collective Unconscious & Inner Planes, etc. & we see in the interaction of these two dimensions the basis for paranormal phenomena & magickal exercises. We neglect neither dimension for the other, seeing both as necessary for our fulfillment. 6. We do not recognize any authoritarian hierarchy, but do honor those who teach, respect those who share their greater knowledge & wisdom, & acknowledge those who have courageously given of themselves in leadership. 7. We see religion, magick, & wisdom-in-living as being united in the way one views the world & lives within it - a world view & philosophy of life, which we identify as Witchcraft or the Wiccan Way. 8. Calling oneself "Witch" does not make a Witch - but neither does heredity itself, or the collecting of titles, degrees & initiations. A Witch seeks to control the forces within herself/himself that makes life possible in order to live wisely & well, without harm to others, & in harmony with Nature. 9. We acknowledge that it is the affirmation & fulfillment of life, in a continuation of evolution & development of consciousness, that gives meaning to the Universe we know, & to our personal role within it. 10. Our only animosity toward Christianity, or toward any other religion or philosophy-of-life, is to the extent that its institutions have claimed to be "the one true right & only way" & have sought to deny freedom to others & to suppress other ways of religious practices & belief. 11. As American Witches, we are not threatened by debates on the history of the Craft, the origins of various terms, the legitimacy of various aspects of different traditions. We are concerned with our present, & our future. 12. We do not accept the concept of "absolute evil," nor do we worship any entity known as "Satan" or "the Devil" as defined by Christian Tradition. We do not seek power through the suffering of others, nor do we accept the concept that personal benefits can only be derived by denial to another. 13. We work within Nature for that which is contributory to our health & well-being. by Silver Ravenwolf

The Wiccan Rede Bide within the Law you must, in perfect Love and perfect Trust. Live you must and let to live, fairly take and fairly give. For tread the Circle thrice about to keep unwelcome spirits out. To bind the spell well every time, let the spell be said in rhyme. Light of eye and soft of touch, speak you little, listen much. Honor the Old Ones in deed and name, let love and light be our guides again. Deosil go by the waxing moon, chanting out the joyful tune. Widdershins go when the moon doth wane, and the werewolf howls by the dread wolfsbane. When the Lady's moon is new, kiss the hand to Her times two. When the moon rides at Her peak then your heart's desire seek. Heed the North winds mighty gale, lock the door and trim the sail. When the Wind blows from the East, expect the new and set the feast. When the wind comes from the South, love will kiss you on the mouth. When the wind whispers from the West, all hearts will find peace and rest. Nine woods in the Cauldron go, burn them fast and burn them slow. Birch in the fire goes to represent what the Lady knows. Oak in the forest towers with might, in the fire it brings the God's insight.Rowan is a tree of power causing life and magick to flower. Willows at the waterside stand ready to help us to the Summerland. Hawthorn is burned to purify and to draw faerie to your eye. Hazel-the tree of wisdom and learning adds its strength to the bright fire burning. White are the flowers of Apple tree that brings us fruits of fertility. Grapes grow upon the vine giving us both joy and wine. Fir does mark the evergreen to represent immortality seen. Elder is the Lady's tree burn it not or cursed you'll be. Four times the Major Sabbats mark in the light and in the dark. As the old year starts to wane the new begins, it's now Samhain. When the time for Imbolc shows watch for flowers through the snows. When the wheel begins to turn soon the Beltane fires will burn. As the wheel turns to Lamas night power is brought to magick rite. Four times the Minor Sabbats fall use the Sun to mark them all. When the wheel has turned to Yule light the log the Horned One rules. In the spring, when night equals day time for Ostara to come our way. When the Sun has reached it's height time for Oak and Holly to fight. Harvesting comes to one and all when the Autumn Equinox does fall. Heed the flower, bush, and tree by the Lady blessed you'll be. Where the rippling waters go cast a stone, the truth you'll know. When you have and hold a need, harken not to others greed. With a fool no season spend or be counted as his friend. Merry Meet and Merry Part bright the cheeks and warm the heart. Mind the Three-fold Laws you should three times bad and three times good. When misfortune is enow wear the star upon your brow. Be true in love this you must do unless your love is false to you. These Eight words the Rede fulfill: "An Ye Harm None, Do What Ye Will" Charge of the Goddess Now listen to the words of the Great Mother, Who was of old also called among men Artemis, Astarte, Athene, Dione, Melusine, Aphrodite, Cerridwen, Dana, Arianrhod, Isis, Bride And by many other names. Whenever ye have need of any thing, Once in the month, and better it be when the moon is full, Then shall ye assemble in some secret place, And adore the spirit of me, who am Queen of all witches. There shall ye assemble, Ye who are fain to learn all sorcery, yet have not won its deepest secrets; To these will I teach things that are as yet unknown. And ye shall be free from slavery; And as a sign that ye be really free, ye shall be naked in your rites; And ye shall dance, sing, feast, make music and love, All in my praise. For mine is the ecstasy of the spirit, and mine also is joy on earth; For my law is love unto all beings. Keep pure your highest ideal; Strive ever towards it, let naught stop you or turn you aside; For mine is the secret door which opens upon the land of youth, And mine is the cup of wine of life, And the cauldron of Cerridwen, which is the Holy Grail of immortality. I am the gracious Goddess, Who gives the gift of joy unto the heart of man. Upon earth, I give the knowledge of the spirit eternal; And beyond death, I give peace, and freedom, And reunion with those who have gone before. Nor do I demand sacrifice; for behold, I am the Mother of all living, And my love is poured out upon the earth. Hear ye the words of the Star Goddess; She in the dust of whose feet are the hosts of heaven, whose body encircles the universe. I, Who am the beauty of the green earth, and the white moon among the stars, And the mystery of the waters, and desire of the heart of man. Call unto thy soul; Arise and come unto me; For I am the soul of nature, who gives life to the universe. From me all things proceed, and unto me all things must return; And before my face, beloved of Gods and of men, Let thine innermost divine self be enfolded in the rapture of the infinite. Let my worship be within the heart that rejoiceth; For behold, all acts of love and pleasure are my rituals. And therefore let there be beauty and strength, power and compassion, Honour and humility, mirth and reverence within you. And thou who thinkest to seek for me, Know thy seeking and yearning shall avail thee not Unless thou knowest the mystery: That if that which thou seekest thou findest not within thee, Thou wilt never find it without thee. For behold, I have been with thee from the beginning; And I am that which is attained at the end of desire. by Doreen Valiente
