hmmmmm. where to start? well here's a few to think on...(feel free to copy and paste then answer as per your opinion)
Catergory : (10) OLD(pre 1985) or New(1985+)
Lead Singers: Old... havn't seen the likes of Hindrix, Robert Plant, Janice Joplin... in any of the new lead singers, they had a presence on stage that was untouchable
Creativity: Old... Seems to me the revloution as come to a stop with new misic everyone sings about bling and their crappy relationships now, nothing like the life experiences and mind bending stories woven in some of the older songs
Style: New... what were they thinking back then god don't get me started on the rags they wore in the 60's(tye dye was cool though) and disco clothes sucked...lol plus you never got the skin you get to see now....thanks MTV (well back when they played music videos)
Musical quality: New... as much as I hate to say it they didn't have ditgital recording quaity back when the music was better...lets hear it for digitally remastered CD's and computer sync'd layering
Instruments: Old...Still nothing prettier than an old guitar and a giant stacked Amp...todays instruments are mass produced and cheap as hell...give me a hand crafted 65 Fender Strat any day over that crap
Giutar Solo's: Old....not much of a debate IMO the solo has all but been replaced... here's to the days when songs were 15 minutes long and 10 of those minutes were just a guitar with a back beat
Lyrics: Old... Songs used to have many and often debated meanings and messages most of which were usually only known to the writer/s unless the divuldged them in rolling stone...now days it all pretty self explanitory...looking for bling,driving in my car, where are all the ho's at...hell i could write that shit...oddly enough it's the age of the rip off..Do your chains hang low...OMFG
Album Art Work: Tie... this is a matter of the band in this case i've seen some really cool new artwork on albums and it's incorporated with the songs for it...but they learned to do that from the classics, Led Zep still has some of my favorites pictures of all time
Groupies: New...hands down the ladies of today are hot as hell and have a fasion that will stay unrivaled for decades to come plus they have the attitude that compliments it so well, just remeber money and bling isn't everything.
Band Names: Old... Cream, Yardbirds, Jefferson Starship, The Rolling Stones.....I mean come on todays band names are created out of 2 parts crap and 1 part malt liquor
