I was watching the Russian New Years celebration live on RT (noon fuTime), and expected a countdown like they do at Times Square. Instead I heard their President give a speech that ended right at midnight Moscow Time, which gave way to chimes from a clock at Red Square. Then came the fireworks. Meanwhile they started toasting in the new year in the studio.
How would you prefer to ring in the New Year:
• Moscow style: Listen to a Presidential speech, watch fireworks, then toast in the new year.
• New York style: Count down, watch the ball drop, then kiss the first person you see at the stroke of midnight.
