Hi Everyone,

The results are in for my Chanukah Salute Contest!

Firstly I would like to thank my 8 wonderful friends from the bottom of my heart for entering my first contest.  They took time out of their busy schedules to create a salute on my behalf for a cause very near and dear to me and on their behalf and my own, I am making a donation to the Kids' Help Phone, which is an organization where troubled youth can call in and receive anonymous help.  In my book, they are ALL winners for their time, effort and creativity, and most of all for their friendship.  THANK YOU GUYS!

That being said, this isn't a Kindergarten Soccer Team where everyone wins, so here are the results.  I have broken it down into 3 categories that seemed most logical and fair:  # of comments, # of rates and overall rating.  Kudos to you all!

Hi everyone and welcome to my first fubar blog :)

I have been seeing a lot of people running various contests lately and so I thought I would try one in my own unique and special way.

Here is some background info:

Thanksgivukkah is a pop-culture term given to the convergence of American Thanksgiving and the first day of the Jewish holiday of Chanukah, taking place this year on Thursday, November 28th.  It is the first time in history since the proclamation of American Thanksgiving that these two holidays occur on the same date and the next time will not be until the year 79811 according to physicists.  The reason it is so rare is that the Jewish calendar works on a lunar cycle and of course the regular calendar is Gregorian.  Indeed this is a rare, once-in-a-lifetime event!

(I realize I am Canadian, not American, but our Thanksgiving was 6 weeks ago already so forget that.)

I have not had the pleasure of running into other openly Jewish people on here besides myself, but since I will be wishing all the rest of you a Merry Christmas when the time arises, I think this should be fun.

Here are the details:  

- This contest is open to EVERYONE.

- This is a SFW salute contest.

- The salute should include my screenname, yours, and some variation of you wishing me a Happy Chanukah.  Please note there are a million different ways to spell Chanukah and just because I am a teacher does not mean I am going to correct your spelling :D

- The contest will be judged by the people who rate and comment on the salutes that I will put in a special folder, to keep it fair and honest.

- I will donate $2 (a Canadian toonie) to Kids' Help Phone for each and every salute entered.  I wish it could be more, but I am just a Kindergarten teacher without a sugardaddy :) http://org.kidshelpphone.ca/en is a link to tell you more about this very important organization here in Canada.

- The contest begins RIGHT NOW and the winner will receive a special prize from me next Thursday evening on Thanksgivukkah.
