It's actually wrong for anyone to hit anyone.Our culture has brought us up to believe that boys hitting girls is a classless and base behavior. A well behaved man wouldn't hit a girl. A 'proper' girl wouldn't hit a boy either.
The truth behind this is that boys and men are generally stronger and hold more power than girls and women. Girls (women) have less ability to leave an abusive relationship. Good parents teach their boys to not hit girls.
Thankfully, this economic and political power inequality is changing, albeit slowly and women are gaining more power in relation to men and have more choices in many cases when in an abusive relationship, but that doesn't excuse anyone from taking advantage of that inequality, especially with violence.

As the flowers rest on the decorated graves and the sunlight shines on the beautiful sailboats, Uncle Sam whispers in my ear about how we should care for the soldiers and remember the ones that have died.
