Life has thrown me a few curve balls as of late. The most recent is I was laid off of my job. The job market sucks at least in my field (Mortgage) and I am not getting any luck in responses for applications.
I came up with an idea. I have worked since I was 12, never looked for any hand outs. Would work 3 jobs if I had to to make ends meet. But now, I am a single mom. My options are a more limited. I decided to take advantage of the state benefits as much as I can to so I can keep a roof over my and my sons heads as I go back to school to learn a more demanding career. (Dental Hygene)
What I want to know is, is my line of thinking out of wack as I feel a few points.
1. Social Security most likely wont be there when I retire.
2. The government keeps giving our hard earned tax dollars to illegal immigrants rather then deport them.
Should I feel guilty for taking advantage of this or am I doing the right thing by myself and my son?? |
