| I was listening to NPR radio the other day on my way to work. There was a news story about a chaplain in the Navy who was being court marshalled for invoking the name of Jesus Christ in his prayers. Now wait a second.... Chaplain=Christianity...okay I'll break it down further for you...Chaplain by definition... chaplain n : a clergyman ministering to some institution Okay?! you say.... okay lets break it down further...definition of clergyman... cler‧gy‧man /ˈklɜrdʒimən/ Pronunciation Key - Show Spelled Pronunciation[klur-jee-muhn] Pronunciation Key - Show IPA Pronunciation –noun, plural -men. 1. a member of the clergy. 2. an ordained Christian minister. Notice how I bolded the word Christian. Okay as some of you might know or some of you might not know I really am no particular organized religion...but I have done ALOT of research on theology and I know that the main cornorstone for ANY Christian church is Jesus Christ. So if you go to a Chaplain you are going to hear about JESUS CHRIST. Make sense?!In my opinion our fore fathers thought that as well. When the fore fathers wrote the constitution and said and I quote....Amendment I Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the government for a redress of grievances. Now do you SEEEEEE anywhere in there about seperation of church and state? Nope and I guarntee you if you look for it you will not find it in any amendments...why?... because it was a letter that was wrote by Thomas Jefferson to the Danbury Baptist church. As you can clearly see all our Constitution is saying is there will be NO National Religion...you have the right to choose and practice any religion you want. If you don't like when a Chaplain invokes the name of Jesus Christ in his prayers...YOU SHOULD NOT HAVE BEEN IN THAT FUCKING CHURCH IN THE FIRST PLACE! If you don't like what you are hearing on the radio...TURN THE FUCKING STATION! If you don't like that an abortion clinic is opening up right down the street...WALK UP AND DOWN THE STREETS WITH YOUR FUCKING SIGNS! That is what America is suppose to do and we have the RIGHTS to do! Alot of Americans don't know all of this including prominate members of our Supreme Court because when they used the Danbury Baptist Church letter for a defense in one of their decision in 1947 it has been the cornerstone for EVERY reason to pull religion (no matter what religion you practice) out of every school, and most governmental institutions in America. BUT the Supreme Court in 1954 added "under god" to the Pledge of Allegiance? Therefore not only making it a patriotic oath but also a public prayer. Confused?! Yeah well join my world. |
