WALK FOR A CURE - MS

My father passed away on April 26, 2007. He was diagnosed with MS when i was in Jr. High. Every day I miss him and every day I wish there was a cure. He's no longer here to fight, but I am. For the past 8 years I have been participating in the MS walk for a cure. I was robbed of a father too young. He lost who he was because of this illness. The group welcomes new members with open arms and hearts and have more compassion than any group of people i've met. They have a common interest they are fighting for...a cure. hmmm shoulda never...

shoulda never gotten my hopes up about the condo being sold. i've learned my lesson now. My weddings being put off again now. will i ever really get married the way i want to? i wish i had something nice to think about today like my wedding, but i dont. i'm having such a bad day and it seems to only be getting worse and worse. i even cried this morning at work and almost quit. I said "f this place, i'm gonna go work at mcdonalds". ment it too. the hypocritical bullshit i deal with is too much to handle sometimes. and the negativity that runs deep in this office is sickening. to this person: the antidepressants are NOT helping you and you need a different prescription and to get a better outlook on life. its bringing us all down. i hate hate hate working in such a negative environment. i try my HARDEST to be as positive about everything as i can and sometimes its just not enough and i need my friends to remind me that hey, its not so bad. and they do. i have the worlds best friends and i love and cherish them all so dearly. they came through for me today. ok rant over. i can feel the tears welling up again and i swore i'd be stronger than this. i will NOT let him get to me like this. i will NOT sink to his level and i WILL be positive! xoxo juicebox

My favorite cousin in the whole wide world who is like a little sister to me is engaged!!! FINALLY! and i cannot WAIT to be her bridesmaid! i'm so so so so so so so so happy. you all have NO idea. She and her boyfriend of 8 years got engaged on their anniversary. they are truly a perfect couple and i couldnt have asked for anyone else for her. he treats her like the little princess she thinks she is. i love ya manda! and congrats! i cant wait to plan your big day! My very very good friend Maria is no longer a bouncer and it makes me sad. She was an AMAZING bouncer and an even more amazing friend. She will TRULY be missed on our team and never be replaced. There will never be anyone else like her on our team. She really is the sweetest and most kind hearted person i have ever had the pleasure of talking to / being friends with / and working with in my life. MY WEDDING UPDATE: Well, the plans for my wedding keep changing and re-arranging themselves. I am finally almost ready to book the trip I have been waiting my whole life for. This has been a long time coming and will still be a long time off. In February 2007 Jerry and I got engaged. No it wasn’t all silly and romantic and blah blah blah. We both knew we wanted to marry each other. It was just a matter of deciding that yes we are infact for sure going to marry each other and we are officially engaged. Did I want the frills? A little yes. But in the end, I got to choose the ring I loved and that was going to be something that means so very much to me. Then life got complicated. Most of you all know the story so I need not rehash the details. If you do not know, read my year in review blog. That pretty much summed up how badly my 2007 sucked donkey balls. So back to the subject at hand. The wedding! Currently Jeremy and I have been engaged for a year and about 7 months. By the time we get married it will be close to 2 and a half years. And again the reason for the long engagement is mainly to do with how upside down our 2007 was. So basically we decided on a destination wedding. I love the idea and wouldn’t have my wedding any other way. Getting married on a secluded beach with just the minimal amount of people is ideal for me. Yes I love to be the center of attention, but I honestly don’t like 300 people staring at me. I start to fidget and get nervous and I just don’t want to feel like that on my wedding day. The sun, sand, water, and wind are all factors I so desperately want in my wedding ceremony. I am not totally throwing all tradition out the window. I do plan to have some of the traditional vows in my own vows, but more personalized. I have gone to so very many weddings in the last 4 years and I am truly happy for every one that has gotten married. But honestly, I’m tired of hearing the same vows repeated over and over. I want him to know that I vow these specific things to him and have it be so very intimate and personal. No couple is exactly the same and I don’t see a reason for all of our vows to be identical. As long as the message of love, laughter, faithfulness, and whatever random thing I feel like pledging to him. He knows I will be there in good times and bad and I know he will be too. We’ve already proved that one! So, now the condo is going to be officially sold next month and its time to finally hunker down and decide on where I want to have my ceremony/honeymoon. No I am not bringing Dylan with because it will be more than just a commitment ceremony. It is also our honeymoon and I don’t know about you, but I’m not bringing a 7 year old on my honeymoon. Now that we will have the funds we will have to decide for sure on a destination. Our main things were 1) a beach and 2) being on American soil. With those two things decided, Hawaii was our first choice in locations. And as much as I like the idea of Hawaii, I decided I wanted to have an all-inclusive hotel and Hawaii does not do that. So on to St. Thomas. The hotel offered both 1 and 2 that we wanted so it was a great idea for everyone invited. One big huge thing I wanted in any resort we chose to be our destination was an in pool bar. I think it is just brilliant and love the idea of floating in a pool with drinks never further than an arms reach. So that being said, we have changed destinations AGAIN. I have been looking into the Sandals Montego Bay Resort in Jamaica and it looks fabulous. Words can’t even begin to describe it. The views are breathtaking and the countless list of activities and things to do is insane. I hope this is going to be our final and definite destination because I think it looks like so much fun. I did just find out that the proper term for the type of wedding we are having is a Weddingmoon. It’s pretty self explanatory. So yes finally we are going to be going full steam ahead with our wedding plans. I am so excited. I cannot wait to see what the future has in store for us. For now, I am going to go and read more hotel reviews and look for a dress. Wish me luck!

Now, i dont know for sure if these things are true or not because I am lazy and I do not feel like looking them up on snopes or wikipedia (which is never very 100% accurate anyways). So, just take from it what you will. I love this country and I love what it USED to stand for when it was founded. We have strayed so far away from the hopes, dreams, and ideals that our founding fathers (and mothers) had for us. Maybe its time we make this as great of a country as our very first president wanted it to be. the email i received: SOMETHING TO THINK ABOUT THIS FOURTH OF JULY. The Fourth of July has more to it than beer, picnics, and baseball games. Have you ever wondered what happened to the 56 men who signed the Declaration of independence? They signed and they pledged their lives, their fortunes, and their sacred honor. What kind of men were they? Twenty-four were lawyers and jurists. Eleven were merchants, nine were farmers and large plantation owners; men of means, well-educated. But they signed the Declaration of Independence knowing full well that the penalty would be death if they were captured. Five signers were captured by the British as traitors, and tortured before they died. Twelve had their homes ransacked and burned. Two lost their sons serving in the Revolutionary Army; another had two sons captured. Nine of the 56 fought and died from wounds or hardships of the Revolutionary War. Carter Braxton of Virginia, a wealthy planter and trader, saw his ships swept from the seas by the British Navy. He sold his home and properties to pay his debts, and died in rags. Thomas McKeam was so hounded by the British that he was forced to move his family almost constantly. He served in the Congress without pay, and his family was kept in hiding. His possessions were taken from him, and poverty was his reward. Vandals or soldiers looted the properties of Dillery, Hall, Clymer, Walton, Gwinnett, Heyward, Ruttledge, and Middleton. At the battle of Yorktown, Thomas Nelson Jr, noted that the British General Cornwallis had taken over the Nelson home for his headquarters. He quietly urged George Washington to open fire. The home was destroyed, and Nelson died bankrupt. Francis Lewis had his home and properties destroyed. The enemy jailed his wife, and she died within a few months. John Hart was driven from his wife's bedside as she was dying. Their 13 children fled for their lives. His fields and his gristmill were laid to waste. For more than a year he lived in forests and caves, returning home to find his wife dead and his children vanished. A few weeks later he died from exhaustion and a broken heart. Norris and Livingston suffered similar fates. Such were the stories and sacrifices of the American Revolution. These were not wild-eyed, rabble-rousing ruffians. They were soft-spoken men of means and education. They had security, but they valued liberty more. Standing tall, straight, and unwavering, they pledged: "For the support of this declaration, with firm reliance on the protection of the divine providence, we mutually pledge to each other, our lives, our fortunes, and our sacred honor." They gave you and me a free and independent America. The history books never told you a lot about what happened in the Revolutionary War. We didn't fight just the British. We were British subjects at that time and we fought our own government! Some of us take these liberties so much for granted, but we shouldn't. So, take a few minutes while enjoying your 4th of July holiday and silently thank these patriots. It's not much to ask for the price they paid. Remember: freedom is never free!
