All salute submissions are reviewed by Fubar Bouncers & each image is checked thoroughly before it is either accepted or rejected. I have posted some images of Acceptable Salutes as well as some that were Rejected because the submission did not follow the salute guidelines. To find out more about adding a salute to your profile check out the blog titled (How To) Submit Salutes.
Leveling & Points Leveling: Everyone who joins Fubar begins as a Level 0 (Freshmeat) & can aquire more levels by gaining Points (which will be discussed briefly below). While Fubar is a free website there is many more benefits (ie. Happy Hours, Blasts, VIP Program etc..) to being a member of the Fubar Community. Each time you gain another level it becomes more challenging (especially when a member begins on Level 20 (Rock Star), but once a member reaches a certain level (usually level 30) that member is required to have at least one salute on their profile). Points: Points can be attained by doing various different things on Fubar (ie. Rating, Commenting etc..). With each action it may have a point behind it and each point will help a member acquire the next level on their profile. Along with points a member will also get an item known as FuBucks which will help them buy certain items around the site as well as buy items in the Fubar Gift Shop. There will be at times Fubar Promotions that will give the member an ability to gain more points to help them level faster, but as mentioned above with each level it gets more and more challenging. I am not going to go to much with this section because there is alot to talk about, but if you'd like to know more about gaining points and fubucks check out my blog titled (How To) Gain Points & FuBucks. Checking Into Lounges One of the best things to do on Fubar is check into a lounge where there will be many different people that you can interact with. Being in a lounge is more or less like being in a small community, whereas most of the staff in a lounge act as a family helping each other to level & acquire more points or FuBucks. There is differences in lounges (being different coding styles, as well as different rules and different atmospheres). It is up to you to decide which lounge you want to be apart of or if you so want at Level 10 (Friend Of Fubar) or when you can acquire $100,000 FuBucks you can create your own lounge and run it the way you want to run it. If you choose this option there is a list of Voluntary Coders that will help you make your lake look the way you want it to look like, but they may be in lounges of their own so they can't really teach you the ways on how to run a lounge. It is recommended that any new member work in a lounge before you create one From Your Homepage Locate The Main Menu
When The Page Loads A List Of Fubars Hottest Lounges Will Appear From this page you can choose which lounge you want to subscribe to and become a part of their family (Due To Limitations of this blog I cannot show you how to create your very own lounge) Checking Out Fumafia fuMafia is one of Fubars most famous Massively Multiplayer Online Role Playing Game that lets members shoot, prod and kill others in a game style setting. Each member is allowed up to 3 players (more can be purchased). With each player a member can Do Mission, Join A Turf(like a lounge), Attack A Member and Hitlist any member they choose. To better find out what fuMafia is all about the best place to begin is to check out the fuMafia Guide or you can ask a question in the Mafia Forums and the other thing you can do is ask a Mafia Bouncer (Mafia Bouncers will have Mafia in their username). To either get started playing fuMafia or to get into fuMafia follow what is below. From Your Homepage Locate The Main Menu
If You Have Not Created A Mafia Player Yet Read The Blog Titled (How To) Setup fuMafia If You Have Created A Mafia Player The Page Will Load To Your Mafia Homepage
From This Page You Can Do What You Usually Do While Your Playing fuMafia. (Due To Limitations of this blog I cannot show you to much about the mafia world) If you have any further questions about this or any topics based on Getting Started |

Every lounge has Emoticons commonly referred to as Emotes. Emotes are used to make a comment to or about someone within a chat style setting. All that is required to use Fubars emotes is that you know how to use the Lounges Tooltip (as shown in Figure 1-1).

| (How To) Coding 101™ |
|---|
It has been requested that a simple blog be made on Coding and the ways it can be implemented on Fubar.com. Those that don't know what Coding is or stands for this blog will give its outline and show some examples (possibly live) on different areas of Fubar.com. Coding mainly stands for Hyper Text Markup Language (or HTML for short) and can also stand for Cascading Style Sheet (or CSS for short). Each of these elements work to keep a page stable among every browser that has either been or will ever be. There is other forms of coding but HTML and CSS are the only allowed forms on Fubar.com so this blog will only focus on these two forms. Also don't forget there is four different browser engines that have there own implementations of the code that is published (these engines being Gecko, Trident, Webkit/KHTML, Text and Presto). This blog will be in concordance with my blogs listed below: - (How To) Create Bulletins Coding With HTML Webpages Hyper Text Markup Language (or HTML for short) is mostly used to build a foundation for a website (ex. Fubar.com uses HTML to build a structure for the webpage this blog is listed on). There are different forms of HTML to which some are in the process of being published or has been published on a website named W3.org. There is also different styles HTML can be formed (many of which have just been introduced with HTML 5.0) that either replace or totally take over its older counterpart. There are many different websites that offers tutorials into HTML and how its implemented and some of these tutorials will also give live animation so you can do it yourself as you make your own HTML content. HTML Examples Some examples of what HTML will look like will be listed below with a link to a website that will allow you to test how HTML is implemented.
Here is the same example above in its coded form <div style="border: 2px solid rgb(248,248,255);"> <table align="center" style="padding: 5px; background-color: gray;"> <tr> <td style="background-color: rgb(248,248,255); border: 1px solid rgb(0,0,0);color: rgb(0,0,0);">This is an example of a table with a style</td> </tr> </table> </div> This Text Is Being Used By A Style <p style="color: rgb(0,255,0); font-size: 16pt; text-decoration: underline blink; font-family: Gabriola;">This Text Is Being Used By A Style</p> If you would like to do some test with the above content (adding your own html styles) make sure to check out HTML Dog(The HTML Portion). Coding With CSS Styles Cascading Style Sheet (or CSS for short) is what is known as the puddy that holds a structure in its place (like a brick office or nails on the walls). Basically CSS is implemented into HTML as a style (ex. <p class="example_class" style="font-size: 8pt; font-weight: bold;">) and is generated to be used with an associated class (as shown in the examples below). CSS Examples If you would like to do some test with the above content (adding your own css class & styles) make sure to check out HTML Dog(The CSS Portion). <div id='middle_header_panel' class="topheader_box_wrapper" style="display:block"> <div class='outer_wrapper clearfix'> <div style="width: 350px;" id="headerbar_feed" class="fubar_module headerbar_module feed"> <div class="header with_graphic"> <div class="wrap clearfix"> <div class="title">My Live Feed</div> <div class="options" style="position: relative; top: -5px; right: -7px;"> <a href="/bartab_filter.php?type=mini" style="color: rgb(248,248,255);">Edit</a> <a href="/myalerts.php" style="color: rgb(248,248,255);">See All</a> </div> </div> </div> <div class="body"> <div id="alert_notify" style="display:none;"></div> <div id="alert_box_scroll"> <div class="alert_row_wrapper"> <div class="alert_msg">· <a class="link_salute">Username Here ...</a> This is were notifications come in!</div> </div> </div> </div> </div> </div> </div> This Text Color Is Controlled By A CSS Selector <a class="link_userbox_moderator">This Text Color Is Controlled By A CSS Selector</a> In Conclusion, both classifications need each other to keep its structure on any browser that a member may use. For those that still need answers on what HTML and CSS stands for can use any search engine they prefer (each search engine gives different results). Also there are many different websites that offer tutorials that can help members learn not only HTML and CSS but can also teach them other programs like C++, Personal Home Page (or PHP for short) and Javascript. For those that do wish to learn more about coding make sure you upgrade your computers Notepad to a better suiting NotePad++ that has many different languages for members to code with. If you have any further questions, comments, concerns or anything I can add / change to this blog to give a better sense based on this topic |

| (How To) Gain More Points™ |
|---|
Introduction It has been said by many members that it isn't possible to gain more points without paying for something or without having a V.I.P.. This blog will be designed to show that it is possible to gain more points without either paying for it or that a VIP is just another means to show oneself off. Gaining fupoints does not require that it should be paid for via cash money or by some other monitary gain. The only thing it requires is that the person be dedicated to gaining more points and not focus on anything outside of that which is already free. The VIP program is just another program designed to give people the Ultimate Benefit in gaining points, but it also comes with most of the things that come free to you the member. To gain more points all one has to do is Rate, Comment and Like galore. There are different limits depending on ones level but that shouldn't stop one from having fun. In this blog I will try and explain about the following areas: Please Note: This blog is not designed to be The Letter Of The Law and anything can change from the time this blog is added Lets get things clear presenting someone with a rate is not just a rate but the main question everyone asks is How Many Rates Can I Do In A Single 24 Hour Window?? Every member (whether Regular or VIP) gets a set of 11's (VIP Members get 250, Regular Members get 10(everyone gets 9999 on days that admin feels the members deserve it)) every 24 hours that they begin to use them, but don't forget there are more than just the 11 Rate (it in fact goes from 1-10 or 1-11 if your a VIP). I have listed an example of what a Regular Member will see compared to what a VIP Member sees when viewing a Profile, Photo or Blog. Please Note: The images above may look the same for both Regular Members & VIP Members, but after a certain amount the 11 for Regular Members Rating members will become a Level Requirement (when you get to the levels that require it), but you must stay dedicated even before these levels come in to context and not give up on gaining the free benefits that others wish they can obtain but don't think they will make it. Don't forget that a rate is what gives you a point in the first place (whether VIP or not). In the old days before Blings and Happy Hours fubar was created so that everyone can visit and rate new peoples Pictures and Profiles. Fubars main motto is to have fun and get to know others that share a common interest :) Commenting requires you to leave words (or images) on a members Profile, Photo, or Blogs. There are different ways in posting the comment and some members may have it set to where they approve the comment before its posted to its destination. Even though commenting is common and gives very little points to both the giver and reciever its still gives a free form of points to you the member so that it can be use to gain the necessary amount of fupoints a member will need to level beyond the level they are currently on. This topic has been mentioned in the blog titled (How To) Likes-Pimps-Abilities so I will be short and say that for every Like a member gives both them and the member they Liked will get a random amount of points (this is also random if someone has a Rockstar activated). There is a maximum of 100-500 Likes a member can use (depending on level and 500 being the maximum) that recycles every 24 hours and will help a member to gain the necessary acquirements to level beyond what they thought they could get to. For those that don't know inviting members to Fubar is a great way for your friends on other social networks to get ahold of you (and it helps give you a crapload of points for every legitimate invitee). Since late 2005 (then it was LostCherry) the invite link has been essential to every member that has used it. Fubar has a promotion going right now which means you can gain 20,000 Points for every member that joins by using your personal invite link. All you have to do is click the Invite link on the main menu and enter your email address to send the link to your friends email or copy the direct invite link that is on the bottom of the popup window. Other than having a flashy profile (or inviting your friends from other websites) the best way to promote yourself and your profile is to Dually Note: Even though Bouncers will not go Pic Hunting on members we are always watching the uploads making sure the site is safe Remember this if you ever hit a Spam Trap (commonly referred to as the Bouncer ID Check), just type in the provided letters the check gives and slow down a bit (if commenting a member make sure to change up your comments every 5th comment). Failing to do any of the afformentioned details will result in a temporary timeout (usually lasting 30 minutes to an hour depending on how many times its been tripped). In Conclusion, I know some of this is common sense to know, but this blog was created to help those that may be confused and think that there is nothing free on fubar (or that think everything must be bought). Points are used primarily to gain levels and acquire fubucks so that one can do many other things (like create a lounge or buy a 1 day blast), but noone should ever think fubar is not a free site and that you must buy to do anything on this site. If you have any further questions, comments, concerns or anything I can add / change to this blog to give it a better sense based on this topic |

| (How To) Choose A Cam Host™ |
|---|
Many members use a Cam Host to broadcast themselves to the masses to either say Hello to friends or to just proove they aren't a machine Hell-Bent on taking over the fu-world. They are a few ways to broadcast yourself (whether it be through a Cam Host or even through Fubars own Broadcasting Feature). This blog will give examples on adding cams from the following sites: Ustream.tv & Stickam.com Introduction As mentioned above each Hosting Site has different feature that can help member with common interest meet each other. Some members may find they like a certain Cam Site better than any other and may choose to stick with it over anyone's opninions. Also dually note some sites (like OpenTok) have multi-party use which can greatly show off common goals others may have or may just be the best way to view others across the globe. Stickam Stickam has been around since 2005 and has been used by many celebrities and political members as a way to show themselves to the viewers. | (How To) Speedup Opera™¹ | |
|---|---|
Most of Fubars members are referred to using either a Webkit based browser (like Google Chrome, Comodo Dragon or Safari) or a Gecko based browser (like Firefox or K-Meleon), but there are a few that use a Presto based browser named Opera. Opera is like any of the browsers mentioned above (meaning they have different API's and Settings. There are always Pros and Cons to every Web Browser (no matter which one you choose or decide to use). Each browser has a different level of Customability, but most browsers don't allow the user to customize the settings easily. I have two other blogs ((How To) Speeding Up Firefox & (How To) Speeding Up Chrome) which explain how to speed up the browsers speed by a small fraction and hopefully this blog will be of some helpful insight into that as well. Opera is already a very fast browser, but if you would have the choice between fast and faster than fast, what would you choose? I am not an avid Opera user so I did do some research for some of these results and compiled a list of Awesome Tips that will speed up Opera in several unique ways. Many of the settings can be changed by simply going to Tools > Preferences in Opera but some can only be used by accessing not so obvious ways like .ini files or User Preferences. Each way also comes with a Small Risk. Please Note: Everything I am describing here has worked fine on their computers (and I'll be testing it on mine for a few days). Click on the button marked Opera on the Top Left Corner
This will open a menu, click the text that says Show Menu Bar
Your browser should now look like the image below
Once you have this menu follow the directions below and enjoy a speedy browsing experience :) Disable Name Completion & Local Network Lookup Whenever you enter a single word into the address field Opera will look for any reference (online or in local form) for that name and try to pull up suggestions to what your typing. This feature is commonly known as AutoComplete. Server Name Completion tries to append prefixes and suffixes to the name automatically. While this feature might be great for some users it also uses Time and CPU Power and should be turned of for Faster Browsing. In order to turn AutoComplete off, Click on Tools > Preferences, Select the Advanced Tab and choose Network from the left menu.
Click on Server Name Completion and Disable Look for local network machine and try name completion, using.
Increase The Time Of Cached Images Before Checking For New Versions Opera downloads images to its Cache File to be able to pull them faster (from your hard drive) the next time you visit any website. By default Opera checks every 5 Hours if a new version of that image has appeared on the visited website. If you increase this time you increase your overall performance. Go to Tools > Preferences, Select the Advanced Tab and choose History from the left menu.
Select Every 24 Hours or even Every Week for image checks.
You can always refresh the cache manually by hitting the F5 Key on your Keyboard while visiting the website. Remove Un-Needed & Duplicate Plugins In Opera's address bar type opera:plugins.
This should display a list of plugins that are currently installed.
Take a closer look and see if you can find plugins that you never need or will never use. To disable a plugin click on the Disable button located on the opera:plugins page you just opened.
Another problem are duplicate plugins that are caused by loading the plugins from Firefox as well. You can disable this easily by typing opera:config in the address bar.
Navigate to User Prefs > Plugin Path and delete the Firefox reference there. Disable Turbo mode While this might sound a little bit strange at first to mention Disable Turbo Mode when it's present focus is to speed up Opera the rammification becomes clear soon after the person gets use to the browser. Turbo Mode means that Opera pre-draws any image which means you'll see part of the websites images although it has not fully loaded. This primarily uses High CPU, High Disk Usage & High Memory Usage, which could increase overall performance especially on slower computers. It will not be noticeable on new or fast computers though. To disable Turbo Mode (if its not Disabled already) click on the button on the lower column of the browser
You can also type opera:config in Opera's address bar.
Type Turbo in the Search box and set the preference named Use Opera Turbo to 0
Increase The Number Of Total Connections If you happen to load many tabs at once and like to read websites more or less simultaneously you might want to increase the maximum number of connections. This should have a drastic impact on loading times if you use a broadband or cable connection. It should not make a big difference for users with slow connections, such as 256K Connections or less. Type opera:config in Opera's address field
Type Connections into the search field.
Change the value of Max Connections Total from its current value to another value Reduce The Amount Of Visited Pages In History Opera keeps track of the last 500 Visited Websites by default. The benefit is that Opera displays all urls that fit the string that you enter in the address bar. You can then scroll down and load the website without entering the url fully. This can however impact the time Opera needs to startup. A temporary fix would be to clear the history manually, a better solution to reduce the amount of websites that Opera stores. Click on Tools > Preferences, Select the Advanced Tab and choose History from the left menu
Click on the Clear button next to Addresses if you want to test if this solution really speeds up loading times or reduce the number of stored addresses in the history right away. If you don't want the browser to store anything click on the dropdown and select the value that says 0.
In Conclusion, there may be many different ways to increase the speed of one's browser (no matter which is used), but always make sure to clean your cookies and cache (read (How To) Clean Cookies & Cache for info on cleaning your browser) every once in awhile (especially on sites with heavy images[like Fubar.com]). Also make sure you have the latest Browser Plugins as well as the latest Browser Version for the particular browser you are using.. If you have any further questions about this or any of the other browser topics | |

| (How_To) Profile Skin Breakdown | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
This blog is more of a continuation of the blog titled (How To) Create Profile Skins. If you don't already know Fubar is comprised of two fundamental elements called HTML ('Hyper Text Markup Language) and CSS (Cascading Style Sheets). Basically HTML shapes your profile and CSS sets the HTML in place. This blog will provide the following:
Overview Every members profile is the same (whether skinned or not). The only difference is each member has a different mindset to how they want their profile to look. Some member prefer a Fully Customized Skin while others might just choose a Simple Background. Each profile has 3 Main Columns (Left, Center & Right) that provides every members statistics (whether it be basic information to profile viewers). Below will list the three columns and what each of its CSS classes do to make sure it works properly. Instead of writing what each CSS class holds I will only add the necessary class, then at the bottom (In The Conclusion) I will write a functioning Profile Skin Code with each pertaining class. Column 1 Column 1 is comprised of Two Main Area's of focus. The first area is where the members Username, User Photo and the Members Profile Statistics are located (As Shown In Figure 1-1A). The second area holds most of the profiles links like Friend Requests, Abilities, etc... are placed (As Shown In Figure 1-1B).
Column 2 Column 2 is located on the center of the page, but recently it there has been a change and now the members Blings/Drinks are now located Figure 2-1A. Below the Blings/Drinks module is where Information About The Member is typically located(Photos, About Me & Interests)(As Shown In Figure 2-1B). Even further than that is where the members current Status Message and Profile Comments are located (As Shown In Figure 2-1C).
Column 3 Column 3 is the final column on the members Profile Page and it holds everything from the members Friends to the members Profile Viewers (As Shown In Figure 3-1B to Figure 3-1G). There is a box that I did show (Figure 3-1A that will not be on anyone elses profile but that of the members. It usually is just there to show how many Bling Credits you have and links to buy more or gift a Bling Pack to another member.
Conclusion In Conclusion, when each of the spread out sections are joined together they look like the three images below (Linked). Each profile can look a different way or have a different feel (dependent on what the member wants). Just remembr when you add a skin to your profile (whether You Create The Skin or Someone Else Creates The Skin) that skin can always be ripped and used on someone else's profile. Also remember if you don't want to create your own Profile Skin you can always Browse Skins and choose one that suits what you want, but remember what I just said in the last sentence..
