“Good-bye My Love: Con Tu Adios” by Jöseph Lee Foster-Shumpert-Lear, 1995 Published 10 April 2004 :: Poetry Read more by Jöseph Lee Foster-Shumpert-Lear He stands in the hall and watches as she goes by He thinks of the days when they held hands, kissed, and talked about her children What a fool he was to mess up the love of a lifetime A love that he wanted nothing more than to preserve A letter was written without his knowledge, And now all the peace that he had tried for so long to find, Runs through his veins And out of the cuts on his arm onto the floor They had agreed on forever, But now that forever is gone The hallways and stairwells are empty now Even though there are hundreds of people all around It is she who is missing from the hallways, the stairwells, and from his life He misses her touch and voice, But most of all, he misses being with her all those brief moments during the day He wishes that things were different; That he could change it in some way, But now it is too late As he loses consciousness, She enters the room to find him sitting in his own blood on the floor Crying, she tells him “Con tu adios Te llevas Mi corazon”
