DETROIT -- The Detroit Red Wings are known for their stars, but the third and fourth liners stole the show on Saturday night. Cory Emmerton had two goals and an assist, and Drew Miller scored twice in the Detroit Red Wings 8-2 win over the Los Angeles Kings. Miller is on the third line, which also featured Dan Cleary with three assists and Darren Helm with two. Emmerton is a part of the fourth line, from which Tomas Holmstrom had two assists and Justin Andelkader one. "I think its huge to get the contribution from everyone. Theres going to be nights where our big guys arent scoring all the time," Miller said. "You count on your third- and fourth-line guys to chip in and come up big for the team. Its good to see Emmer get two goals. Its a little kudos for the third and fourth lines." Niklas Kronwall added a goal and two assists, and Henrik Zetterberg, Pavel Datsyuk and Brad Stuart also scored for Detroit, while Jimmy Howard made 27 saves. "I thought we started real well and we werent able to maintain that kind of intensity, that kind of effort," Red Wings coach Mike Babcock said. "But we did lots of good things, scored lots of goals. It was a tough night for them. Were happy to get the two points." Davis Drewiske and Jarret Stoll scored for Los Angeles, which lost for the sixth time in seven games amid reports that Darryl Sutter will become head coach in the upcoming week. Justin Williams and Dustin Penner had two assists each. "Flat-out mistakes that cost us goals," said Kings defenceman Rob Scuderi, who didnt think the unsettled coaching situation was a factor in the game. "I can only speak for myself, but once I get out there, I only worry about what I can do on the ice. Youre not worrying about who the coach might be, but thats just me." Jonathan Quick stopped four shots before being replaced less than halfway into the first period. Jonathan Bernier took over and made 15 saves. The Kings, last in the NHL in goals-per game, appear close to having their third coach of the season. A team spokesman had no comment, and interim coach John Stevens -- who replaced the fired Terry Murray -- was behind the bench on Saturday night. "If you give up eight goals, how many goals you score is going to be a moot point," Stevens said. Detroit scored twice within 15 seconds for a 2-0 lead two minutes in. Miller put in a rebound at 1:45, and Emmerton tipped in Jonathan Ericssons shot at 2:00. Kronwalls slapshot from the top of the right circle beat Quick at 8:32 and sent the goalie to the bench. Drewiskes second goal put Los Angeles on the board with 2:45 left in the first. Emmertons second goal restored the Red Wings three-goal lead with 1:25 remaining in the first period. He put a one-timed shot past Bernier from the inside edge of the left circle for his third this season. Stoll cut the Kings deficit to 4-2 with 8:57 left in the second period when he chipped in a rebound for his third goal. Zetterbergs eighth goal came with eight minutes left in the middle period, and Datsyuk netted his 10th with 22 seconds left in the second. Miller added his second of the game and fifth of the season 7:34 into the third period, and Stuart scored a power-play goal with 8:42 remaining. Wolf surrendered a tie-breaking RBI single to pitching counterpart Joe Kelly in a four-run fourth inning as the St. Louis Cardinals rolled to a 9-3 victory over the Brewers. St. Louis has won three of its last four while Milwaukee had a three-game winning streak snapped. Wolf cruised through the first three innings and took a 3-0 lead into the fourth before St. Louis went in front to stay. Kelly had the key blow in the inning: a two-out RBI single that put the Cardinals in front for good. "You get to the pitchers spot, youve got to get him out," Wolf said. "That was a big hit there. Unfortunately, that was the difference in the game." Wolf allowed nine hits and five earned runs in 5 1/3 innings. "I didnt think he had his best stuff," Milwaukee manager Ron Roenicke said. "But he wasnt as bad as the numbers show." Kelly (2-4), on the other hand, got better as the game went along. He allowed three earned runs, all in the second inning, and 10 hits over 5 2-3 innings. After the rough start, Kelly was wondering how long he would remain in the game. "I went to the dugout and said, It might be one of those nights," Kelly said. "I was irritated." But Kelly channeled his anger. He held the Brewers scoreless over the next 3 2-3 innings and began to pick up steam as the game went along. Kelly picked up the second win of his career. His last was an 11-4 victory at Kansas City on June 22. Kelly entered Fridays game with seven straight quality starts but took the loss in his last three games. St. Louis manager Mike Matheny said Kelly showed the courage of a veteran by bouncing back from the most difficult start of his career. Kelly gave up hits to five of the first 10 batters he faced and didnt record his first swinging strike until his 37th pitch of the night. But he was able to keep his team in the game until the offence got rolling. "This was a great lesson for him," Matheny said. "He learned how to pitch when he didnt have his best stuff. He did a nice job of getting himself out of trouble." The Brewers, who stranded 10 runners, simply couldnt put the finishing touches on the early blitz. "We had him right where we wanted him more thann once," first baseman Corey Hart said.dddddddddddd"Youre always one hit away. But he battled and got out of it." Added Roenicke, "We didnt play well. When we dont play well, we dont get the breaks." St. Louis managed just two hits in the first three innings off Wolf but scored four runs on five hits in the fourth. David Freese ripped a two-run single to bring his team within 3-2. Daniel Descalso, who added an RBI single in the eighth, followed with a run-scoring double to tie the game. Shane Robinson walked before Kelly singled for his second RBI of the season. Milwaukee scored three times in the second to take a 3-0 lead. Wolf drove in two runs with a bases-loaded single. Norichika Aoki followed with a run-scoring hit. St. Louis, which scored nine straight runs, capitalized on two errors in the sixth to push the lead to 6-3. Yadier Molina, who singled to start the inning, stole third and came around to score when catcher Martin Maldonado threw wildly to third. Corey Hart, who had not made in error in his first 51 starts at first base, booted a grounder by Rafael Furcal to allow Robinson to score. Relievers Barret Browning, Edward Mujica, Mitchell Boggs and Marc Rzepczynski followed Kelly and kept the Brewers scoreless. Molina had three hits to push his average to .315. He stole two bases, giving him a career-high 10 for the season. Ryan Braun, who leads the NL with 29 homers, had three hits including two doubles. The Brewers tied a season-high with four errors for the second straight game. Maldonado had three. "Defence hasnt been one of our stronger suits lately," Hart said. "You have these games and good teams capitalize on those errors." NOTES: St. Louis OF Matt Holliday, who had two hits, has reached by hit or walk in the last 29 games. ... CARACAS, Venezuela -- Canada will have to settle for international experience instead of a berth at the 2014 Basketball World Cup. The mens team lost 73-67 to Argentina at the FIBA Americas Championship on Sunday, ruining Canadas chances of qualifying for one of two spots at the World Cup. For head coach Jay Triano, Canadas downfall was in his young teams relative inexperience at the international level. "Our three best players are 22, 22 and 23 years old," said Triano, referencing Cory Joseph, Tristan Thompson and Andrew Nicholson. "Were going up against men who have played this game for a long time and have played at a high level for a long time. "Thats why were here. Were here to get the experience and play against these guys so when were that age, we can compete at the same level and understand the game that much better." Joseph had 19 points for Canada (3-4) in a losing effort, while Nicholson added 17 of his own. Thompson finished with eight points and 10 rebounds. Luis Scola had 28 points and seven rebounds for Argentina while Selem Safar added 18 points off the bench. Facundo Campazzo chipped in with 10 points and eight assists. Canada led 36-32 at halftime, but Argentina stormed out of the gate in the third quarter and led 61-56 heading to the fourth quarter. Despite the elimination loss, Triano said Canadas play at the tournament bodes well for the future of the national program. "We didnt come here thinking we were just going to get experience, we came here hoping to win. It didnt happen but the experience was gained," Triano said. "The future is still bright and I hope the rest of Canada continues to back these guys and not turn on them because we didnt qualify for the world championships." Canada had four NBA players on its roster at the tournament. Nicholson plays for the Orlando Magic, Joseph is with the San Antonio Spurs, Thompson is a member of the Cleveland Cavaliers and centre Joel Anthony is on the Miami Heat. DETROIT -- Canadas mens soccer team hasnt beaten the United States in 25 years, and it appears theres a few lessons to be learned before the drought against its cross-border rival finally ends. Jozy Altidore and Clint Dempsey scored to lead the No. 22-ranked United States to a 2-0 decision over 76th-ranked Canada on Tuesday in the opener of the CONCACAF Gold Cup for both teams. "Its a healthy rivalry and we will continue to learn from the experiences and to do better," said Canadian coach Stephen Hart. The U.S. pounced from the opening whistle and an American goal appeared inevitable. Altidore made the early pressure count as he put the Americans on the scoreboard in the 15th minute. The 21-year-old, making his first Gold Cup appearance, dribbled in with his back to Kevin McKenna before turning and launching a shot from the right side of the box past outside the outstretched hands of goalkeeper Lars Hirschfeld into the left corner of the net. "They had come out with a lot of energy," said Canadian midfielder Will Johnson. "Obviously giving up that goal really hurt. I think we were getting to the end of settling down and starting to play a little bit. I feel that after that we really did settle down and play some good stuff." Dempsey doubled the Americans lead in the 62nd minute, stretching to stab in a cross from Altidore from the right corner that a diving Juan Agudelo just missed. "For confidence, it was a good thing," U.S. coach Bob Bradley said. "The movement that led to the first goal and the cross to Dempsey for the second both were great plays." The U.S. outshot Canada 14-9 and rarely looked troubled during the match. Canada hasnt beaten the U.S. since 1985, a span that stretches back 14 matches and includes seven shutouts in the last eight meetings. The Canadians havent beaten the U.S. in an official competition since 1980. With nine World Cup appearances to Canadas one, the Americans were the class of the match for most of the night. They dominated the first half, keeping possession for long stretches. Michael Bradley and Landon Donovan moved the ball seemingly at will in the midfield, while Altidore and Agudelo kept Canadas back line of McKenna, Nik Ledgerwood and Andrew Hainault under unrelenting pressure. ""We were a little slow in closing down the ball, our energy level wasnt high enough, and when we did move the ball we were too slow, we were very predictable," said Hart. Dwayne De Rosario had Canadas only serious scoring chance in the first half, but his shot from 25 yards out in the 33rd minute curled just right of the net. The Canadians finally settled down about an hour in, and would force American keeper Tim Howard to make some fabulous saves before the final whistle. Canadas best chance of the night came in the 70th minute when Ali Gerba, subbed into the game just five minutes earlier for Johnson, launched a rocket from just inside the 18-yard box that was soaring straight for the top right corner before Howard dove to punch it out of danger. Gerba had another glorious chance in the 85th from inside the six-yard box that Howard dove to save. "I honestly felt we played a much better second half, we adjusted really, really well. We didnt create many chances but the chances we did create were very good, Howard was absolute magic. I almost clapped," Hart said. The Americans, the only team thats never lost a Gold Cup group-stage match, could have been on the scoreboard as early as the third minute when they were awarded a free kick just outside the 18-yard box. Dempsey fired the ball into the Canadian wall. Some 20,209 fans took in the game in the cavernous 65,000-seat Ford Field, normally home to the NFLs Detroit Lions. A couple of hundred noisy red-clad Canadian fans made the trip across the border, and Hainault jumped over the barrier after the game to shake several fans hands, eventually pulling off his jersey and giving it to one of them. Natural grass had been trucked in and laid over the artificial turf, but by the time Canada took the field, the pitch was a mosaic of various hues of green, yellow and brown. From the upper seats, the field resembled the view from an airplane over a patchwork of prairie farms. Officials, with buckets of sand in hand, patched up the numerous divots on the field at halftime. "It was a bit (of a challenge)," said Canadian midfielder Terry Dunfield. "We werent able to warm up on the pitch, which doesnt make it easy, and it started to cut up right away, but it was the same for both teams." With only a few minutes between the opening game between Panama and Guadeloupe -- a 3-2 win for Panama -- neither the Canadians or U.S. had time to warm up on the field. The Canadians are searching for their first Gold Cup title since winning in 2000. They were ousted by Honduras in the quarter-finals in 2009. "I think by the way we played, we can walk away with our heads held high given we gave up two goals that arguably on another day we should have kept out of the net," De Rosario said. "They are a good team, but the way we competed I think we did very well, and its something to build on going into the next game." They were also looking for a bit of redemption against their cross-border foes in their first meeting since the Canadians were dispatched by the U.S. from the 2007 Gold Cup in a controversial semifinal ending. Atiba Hutchinson scored what would have been the tying goal in second-half injury time but the referee ruled it offside, giving the U.S. a 2-1 victory over the gutted Canadians. The U.S. went on to win the tournament. Canada faces Guadeloupe -- unranked because its not a member of FIFA -- on Saturday at Raymond James Stadium in Tampa, and then wraps up group action next Tuesday against No. 67 Panama at Livestrong Sporting Park in Kansas City, Mo. The top two teams in each group plus the two best third-place teams advance to the quarter-finals, June 18 at New Meadowlands Stadium in Rutherford, N.J., and June 19 at RFK Stadium in Washington. The semifinals are June 22 at Houstons Reliant Stadium, and the final goes June 25 at the Rose Bowl in Pasadena, Calif. Veterans Patrick Marleau and Joe Thornton have been unstoppable for San Jose, combining to produce 12 goals and 26 points in five San Jose wins. The Sharks already have a plus-15 goal differential, a significant reason for their move to the top after being ranked 11th in the preseason. The rankings only incorporate production for this season, so there are some dramatic shifts from the preseason rankings. For example, Tampa Bay climbed from 24th to second spot, Montreal from 18th to seventh and Winnipeg from 28th to ninth, all three rising to the Top 10 with a move of at least 10 spots. Ottawa (13th to fifth), New Jersey (15th to eighth), Colorado (26th to 14th) and the New York Islanders (29th to 18th) are among the others to have fared better in the early going than might have been anticipated in the preseason. Heading in the other direction, the Pittsburgh Penguins are stilll obviously a strong team, but back-to-back losses knocked the preseason No.dddddddddddd 1 team down to 10th, while inconsistent results also sent the New York Rangers from second to 13th spot. Vancouver (fifth to 16th), Detroit (seventh to 17th), Los Angeles (10th to 21st), Nashville (eighth to 24th), Philadelphia (ninth to 27th) and Washington (17th to 29th) were all victims of big drops in the first rankings update. The Ottawa Senators are the top-ranked Canadian team, at fifth and the Edmonton Oilers climbed to 11th while the Toronto Maple Leafs (23rd) and Calgary Flaems (26th) are ranked in the bottom third. It bears noting that this NHL season is a small sample size unto itself, but rankings are especially volatile in the first weeks, when teams have only played a handful of games and one lopsided result can shift differentials. LENZERHEIDE, Switzerland -- Tina Maze rebounded from her heartbreaking World Cup slalom title defeat to Mikaela Shiffrin by ending her historic season with a giant slalom victory on Sunday. Maze performed her trademark celebration cartwheel in the finish area after first-run leader Tessa Worley of France fell 0.35 seconds behind her winning two-run time of 2 minutes, 16.67 seconds. Lara Gut of Switzerland was third, 1.38 back. The Slovenian racers 11th World Cup victory this season extended her record overall points total to 2,414. Austrian great Hermann Maier set a mark of 2,000 in the 1999-2000 season. "Im impressed, too," Maze said, when asked about her impressive year in a finish-area interview. "It was an amazing season for me. I started with a win and I finished with a win." On crossing the finish line to set the fastest time, Maze twirled her right ski-pole above her head in excitement. It seemed an understandable release of emotion after two big disappointments here at World Cup finals week. On Saturday, Mazes first-run slalom lead couldnt withstand American teenagers Shiffrin astonishing second run to victory in their winner-take-all race for the discipline title. Maze sobbed with her head resting on her arm as Shiffrin displayed the crystal trophy. When the downhill was cancelled on Wednesday, Maze was denied the chance to overhaul the injured Lindsey Vonn in the standings. At that stage, Maze was still aiming to sweep the seasons World Cup titles. There was disappointment Sunday for the 2011 overall World Cup champion, Maria Hoefl-Riesch of Germany. She appeared injured after skiing out in the first run and quickly left the venue. Hoefl-Riesch was travelling to her home base in Kitzbuehel, Austria, for a diagnosis, German team spokesman Ralph Eder said in a text message to The Associated Press. On a tricky snow surface for the GS race, Julia Mancuso of the United States was eighth, 2.47 behind Maze, and Shiffrin placed 11th, trailing by 3.58. "Im definitely tired," the 18-year-old Shiffrin told The AP. "I put a lot on the line in the second run (on Saturday). It was emotionally exhausting." Mancuso was the best-placed American in the overall standings, in fourth place with 867 points. Shiffrin was fifth, 45 points behind her teammate. Vonn, the four-time overall champion from 2008-10 and in 2012, ended eighth despite taking a midseason break and not racing after Feb. 5, when she ruptured right knee ligaments crashing in the world championships super-G race won by Maze. Aged 29, Mazes improvement was remarkable despite having finished second overall to Vonn one year ago, though without winning a race. Then, Vonns 1,980 points was a womens record and Maze got 1,402. Maze reeled off 11 wins this time, across all five events, and improved her points total by more than 1,000. Her 24th top-3 finish in a World Cup race Sunday extended another record she took from Maier, who stood on the podium 22 times in his dominating 2000 season. Maze also took three medals at the worlds in Schladming, Austria, super-G gold and silvers in giant slalom and super-combined. PHOENIX -- With his parents and a contingent of South Korean students from nearby Arizona State cheering him on, Hyun-Jin Ryu had the biggest night yet in his young major league career. Not just on the mound. At the plate, too. The left-hander struck out nine in six innings and got his first three big league hits as the Los Angeles Dodgers held off the Arizona Diamondbacks 7-5 Saturday. "I cant remember," Ryu said through an interpreter when asked the last time he had three hits in a game. "Even in high school, I dont think I got three this in one game." Adrian Gonzalez went 3 for 4 with a home run and two RBIs as the Dodgers stopped a six-game losing streak in Arizona dating to last season. Matt Kemp singled in two runs, Skip Schumaker had an RBI double and Andre Ethier singled in a run for Los Angeles. The Dodgers led 6-1 after six innings, but Arizona tried to rally behind pinch-hit RBIs from Eric Hinske, Eric Chavez and Aaron Hill, and a home run by Martin Prado. Ryu (2-1) allowed three runs and six hits with just one walk. "He has good stuff. He has four pitches and he throws them at any time," Arizonas Paul Goldschmidt said. "He located his fastball on both sides of the plate. He used his changeup. He has a little curveball and a hard slider. He was mixing it up and keeping guys off balance." It was Ryus 100th professional victory. He said his parents have been there "for 99 of them." His parents jumped up and down when he doubled in his first at-bat. He also had two singles, becoming the first Dodgers pitcher with three hits in a game since Randy Wolf went 3 for 4 against Arizona at Chase Field on Aug. 16, 2009. Ryu expects to succeed on the mound, which Dodgers manager Don Mattingly noted from the day the pitcher arrived. "Im sure he has still lots of things to deal with as far as the culture and the language and a lot of things," Mattingly said. "But the pitching part, he came in with that, and that confidence has been there since day one." The hitting was another matter. "I was most surprised by my hitting today," Ryu said. "Surprise is the key word." Brandon League pitched a perfect ninth for his fourth save in as many tries. Arizonas Ian Kennedy (1-1) gave up six runs and 10 hits in 5 2-3 innings, striking out four and walking four, one intentionally. The Diamondbacks Cliff Pennington was ejected for the first time in his big league career after slamming his bat to the plate following a called third strike by umpire Jim Reynolds with runners on first and second in the seventh. The bat broke, and Pennington went back and picked up the shattered piece before he left the field. Arizona went on to score two runs in the inning and close to 6-3. Prados homer off Kenley Jansen leading off the eighth made it 6-4. Miguel Montero singled with one out and Hill, out of the lineup since being hit in the left hand by a pitch on Tuesday, doubled to deep left with two outs to make it a one-run game. Ramon Hernandezs RBI double down the right-field line in the ninth boosted the lead. Gonzalez led off the fourth with his second home run of the season, then the Dodgers added two in the fifth. Ryu singled, then Crawford reached on a fielders choice and flew around the bases to score from first on Schumakers double. Gonzalez was walked intentionally, then Ethier singled sharply to bring home Schumaker with a 3-0 lead. Arizona scratched one across in the fifth when Pennington led off with a single, took second on a wild pitch, advanced to third on Kennedys sacrifice and scored when A.J. Pollock grounded out. Los Angeles chased Kennedy in a three-run sixth, with all the damage coming with two outs. Ryu singled and Carl Crawford doubled to put runners at second and third. Schumaker walked to load the bases, then Kemp -- batting .189 entering the game -- singled in two runs. Left-hander Matt Reynolds replaced Kennedy and gave up an RBI single to Gonzalez putting the Dodgers up 6-1. Ryu left after giving up singles to Alfredo Marte and Josh Wilson to start the seventh. Reliever Ronald Belisario got Pennington out on strikes, but pinch hitters Hinske and Chavez each singled in a run to cut it to 6-3. Radwanska is scheduled to meet four-time Wimbledon champion Serena Williams for the title Saturday. Radwanska played with the ailment Thursday, when she beat Angelique Kerber 6-3, 6-4 and became the first Polish player to reach a Grand Slam final since 1939. Charles Woodson Raiders Jersey. -- Jamie Barresi is returning to the University of Ottawa. Kenny Stabler Jersey. -- It was another tough outing for Brett Cecil.KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- Josh Hamilton is starting to warm up along with the weather. Hamilton started the Angels comeback when he homered leading off the seventh inning, and Los Angeles beat the Kansas City Royals 5-2 Sunday for its eighth straight win. Los Angeles trailed 2-0 before Hamilton homered on the first pitch of the seventh from Wade Davis (3-4), giving the former AL MVP home runs in consecutive games for only the third time since signing with the Angels during the off-season. Hamilton has five RBIs in his past five games after driving in five in his previous 39. "Its good to see him driving him the ball," Angels manager Mike Scioscia said. "He started things off. His power is important to us no doubt." The Angels were unable to get into their dugout until about 90 minutes before the game because bees swarmed into it. A beekeeper was summoned to solve the problem. Jerome Williams (4-1) then allowed two runs and seven hits in six innings for the Angels, on their longest winning streak since taking eight straight from May 22-29 last year. When they play at the Freeway Series rival Dodgers on Monday, they can stretch a winning streak to nine for the first time since August 2004. Kansas City has lost nine of 10 and 16 of 20, dropping to 21-26. In only three of those 16 losses have the Royals scored more than three runs. Plate umpire Marty Foster ejected Kansas Citys Billy Butler for yelling from the dugout in the sixth, an inning after the designated hitter was called out on strikes and had words with Foster. Scioscia was tossed by Foster in the ninth. "Im not the only one who had a disagreement with him in this series," Butler said. "He said some things to me I didnt like and it got me fired up. Whenever I went and looked at video, it made me more mad. In the heat of the moment you react. It takes it to a different level. Thats unfortunate and I will try to control my emotions a little better. Im not going to say it isnt going to happen again, but its unfortunate." After Hamiltons home run, Davis walked two of his next three batters, Bruce Chen relieved, and J.B. Shuck and Erick Aybar hit consecutive RBI singles for a 3-2 lead. "He was throwing a pretty good game and then when Josh hit that homer everything started turning around," Williams said. "We already know our bats are there. Everybody is getting hot, not jjust Josh.dddddddddddd Thats what we need. We need Josh to get back." Luke Hochevar walked Mark Trumbo and hit Howie Kendrick with a pitch in the eighth, and Shuck and Chris Iannetta hit consecutive run-scoring singles against Aaron Crow. Williams improved to 3-0 with a 2.03 ERA in his last four starts. Sean Burnett, who replaced Williams, threw only 10 pitches and left with left forearm tightness. Burnett came off the disabled list last week after missing 22 games with left forearm irritation. Scioscia said "well see in 24 hours" the extent of Burnetts injury. Ernesto Frieri pitched an eventful ninth for his 10th save in 11 chances, getting in trouble when he walked Chris Getz and gave up Alcides Escobars third hit of the game. Alex Gordon struck out, Jeff Francoeur flied out in a 12-pitch at-bat and Eric Hosmer grounded out, ending the 28-pitch innings. Davis did not allow a runner past second in the first six innings. "We got into trouble in the seventh," Davis said. "The walks put us in a bad spot. The biggest goal is to keep it at zero. With the way weve been playing, we needed a win." Kansas City built its lead on David Loughs two-out RBI triple in the second and a run-scoring throwing error by Williams on a pickoff attempt at first with runners at the corners in the fifth. George Kottaras drew his 10th walk in his 35th plate appearance and swiped second for his first steal since June 22, 2010. "We havent played well and we know it," Butler said. "Ill stand up and say were not playing the way we can. Its frustrating. A lot of guys in here are frustrated." NOTES: Scioscia said after the game RHP Jered Weaver, who threw a bullpen session Sunday, would start Wednesday against the Dodgers. Weaver went on the DL on April 8 with a broken left arm. ... RHP Tommy Hanson, who threw 75 pitches Saturday in a simulated game in Arizona, could rejoin the rotation this week. ... RHP Billy Buckner was designated for assignment, a day after he threw five scoreless innings to beat the Royals for his first major league victory since 2009. ... Angels RHP Kevin Jepsen was activated from the DL. ... RHP James Shields, who starts for the Royals on Monday against St. Louis, is 0-3 in four May starts. The Royals have scored a total of five runs in those four starts. ' ' '
