Who out there has friends?
Who out there knows what a true friend is?
Who thinks that a friend is just that, a friend?
I don't. See I have a few true friends and when I say a few I mean FEW. But I know that no matter what I say or do, they will be right there to tell me if I am doing the right thing or if I'm fucking up all over the place. That is what a true friend is. Their right there when you need them, just a phone call away, or just a shoulder to lean on. They have their own problems in life but they take time out to listen and offer solutions to yours. They also are a sound mind when it comes to needing some advice on something. If you are having a rough time you know that they will help you any way possible. And they don't expect anything in return. If something goes wrong and you need to get to the problem they won't ask you to return the favor by doing something. That would be something that is on you to do on your own. They don't live by the motto: "tit for tat" they live by "let me be a friend".
But there are some people that call themselves friends and will "help you out" but its for a price. The last time I looked it shouldn't cost to have a friend but should be rewarding at least to your emotions. But those that are out there that want a friend just for their own gain beware for the time will come that the word friend will not part your lips in a good sense ever again. It's to those people that I say shame.
But as far as some of us go a true friend is something that is not to be taken lightly. They are one of the greater joys on this planet and its because of them that we can enjoy life. So your lover and your family are just friends that happen to know you a little better. Embrace them and hold them tightly for they are also your true friends.
So when you have a bad day or a good day make sure that you let a friend be there because they would love for you to be there with them.
