Just been out to Cologne for a few days to see my team, Spurs, win our 3rd consecutive UEFA Cup match. (Talking Soccer for the info of the Yanks ... ;>))
Nice city, had a great time looking around the cathedral and the Christmas markets on Thursday. Then did the same in Dusseldorf Friday afternoon when we stopped there for a few hours whilst taking the train to the airport.
True to form I did check out several of the local breweries and found them quite refreshing on the most part. Quite expensive, over €4 for almost a pint, that's nearly £3 or $6, but what the heck. I don't think we left the bars before 5am any night we were out there. I'm currently rather scared to check my bank balance. Those Euro's look like monopoly money and are spent just as easily and it's only when the ATM refuses to give you anymore that you realise just how much those beers have cost you.......
Did do one thing that I'd been desperate to do though. I DRANK DAS BOOT!!!!
And thanks to watching the film I did it properly! Even for someone that drinks like I do I found it a bit of a struggle but I wasn't gonna be beaten!!
Something that always makes me smile in some of continental Europe is their attitude to prostitution and brothels.
In the UK and most of the US it's a big no no, illegal and frowned on.
Over there they advertise in the official town guide books. None of this seedy picture postcards stuck in the phone booth or soliciting on the side of the street. They even had some in the hotel guide that gave you full descriptions in case you were to lazy to go out and wanted someone to keep you company in your hotel. But apparently the brothels were the places to go.
Didn't check them out personally (was with the gf) but several of the guys did and had fun. Pricey but clean apparently. Having jacuzzi's and hot tubs in some and themed rooms in others. Harem etc. Costumes for every fetish etc.
Not as wide of a choice as there was when when we were out in Prague a few weeks ago but....
Now Prague! That is the site for the adventurous. There's one particular brothel out there called "Big Sister" and the girls there are equally happy with guys or girls as clients.
Free to get in, free to go with as many girls as you like for up to 3 hours (or so I was told) so long as you sign a disclaimer saying you don't mind being broadcast on the web as they have cameras everywhere and it's a subscription site in the Czech Republic.
They had a couple of dozen rooms where the girls would dress up for you and role play. There was a classroom, an igloo, a arabian tent, a space themed room and several others (apparently)
Funniest thing is though sitting at the tables in the bar and being able to flick through the cameras in the rooms and check out what/who your friends are doing ...... lol
