Ok, I'm not one of those types that claims that in my day we all walked to school 10 miles, uphill, both ways, in 10 feet of snow, etc etc. However, in my day, bullying meant a larger kid was kicking your sorry ass, not writing snide or cruel comments about you on the internet.
A couple short decades ago, during WWII, Korea and even Vietnam, 16 year olds were lying about their age so that they could join the military and be sent to war. They didn't want to wait til they were 18, they wanted to go fight now. And these were wars where we would lose more people in a day than we've lost in the entire Iraq war. Now we need to protect teenagers from "CYBER-bullying"???
I'm sorry kids, this generation is soft and if this is who we gotta depend on to protect us when their day comes, I think we all better get familiar with in which direction lies Mecca. Toughen the f**k up all ready. If someone writes something crappy about you online, catch his or her in the hallway and kick his or her ass. Even if you lose it will probably be enough to discourage the next "cyberbully". After all, if someone has to cyberbully, chances are he or she lacks the physical prowess to do the real thing anyway. |
