Me Venting (LONG READ)
Current mood: peeved
Category: Life

YES I KNOW IT'S LONG but I figured that I haven't blessed my fans on facebook with my venting in a while, so brace yourself.

I find myself being surrounded by a rising level of incompetence as of late. Not necessarily by the people that are around me. But in the world as a whole. The first topic I'd like to touch on, of course, is politics. But I'm not taking it in my usual Rush Limbaugh direction that you all know and love. What I want to say is that I'm tired of the things that are "making or breaking" the votes these days. Hilary is a woman, Barack is black/Muslim, or what have you. These are not qualities of a good leader, nor are they qualities of a bad leader. They aren't qualities that should matter in the least. If you support either for their platform, their beliefs or their views then more power to you. To each their own. But if you want Hilary in office because you want a female. Or you want Barack in office because he's a young black man; you have no purpose in the voting booth. Personally I blame most media outlets. As Americans we are so god damned focused on what mental evaluation Brittney Spears will receive next, and what Billy Ray's daughter wore in her magazine shoot that we have lost sight of anything that should matter. Which brings me to my next point, America. Those of you who know me know that I love the country we live in. Not just because I'm in the military just as a person I think it is the greatest country in the world. But I look around and I see the things people bitch about. They bitch gas prices are high, you're right they are but we aren't able to do anything about it because animal rights activists say drilling is out of the question. We bitch that we shouldn't be at war. Unless you've been to Iraq and did a census you can't accurately tell me that the citizens of this country don't want us here. You sit there and watch CNN in the comfort of your home and think you know how things are in Iraq. But only on the very rare occasions do they show any good being done. Think of it this way, if you were walking down the street, and you saw one man killing innocent people, and you had the power at that time to stop him and help those people, would you do it? Or would you turn the other cheek because it's "not your problem"? I don't want to talk about the war because like Abortion, gay marriage, and Religion it's an argument that cannot be "won" for either side. Americans today are lazy, selfish, and greedy. We only want to get ahead and we could care less who we step on in the process. We want the latest, the greatest, but when we get these things they become out dated, something better comes out, and we want that. We are so entangled with shows like "Laguna Beach" and "The Hills" that we have forgotten that it's television and not our lives. I see so many people who want things to be different, who want things to be "better" and make no attempt at making that a reality. If you would just step outside of yourself, and look around you'd understand. That the first step to making things the way you want them to be is to begin with yourself. Make yourself who you want to be. But remain yourself. Stop living your life through the celebrities on T.V and in magazines. Stop wanting what someone else has and learn to love what you have. I read an article that made perfect sense to me, and like him I will take this time to apologize to the people of America.

I'm sorry that you can choose any religion you believe in and not have to worry about getting killed because of it. I'm sorry that you can drive into another city without having to be searched and forced to prove you are who you say you are. I'm sorry that you can openly bash our President without any direct repercussions. I'm sorry that you have to pay a bit more for gas but you don't have to worry about if the car next to you is going to blow up. I'm sorry that you get to go to sleep at night wondering if that boy in your math class likes you rather than go to bed wondering if you will wake up in the morning. And I apologize girls, that you can wear a short skirt, a low cut shirt, and entirely too much make-up, and talk to any guy you want without being beat by your significant other. I'm sorry guys that you aren't tortured by other men in your city to believe what they believe and do what they want you to do.

You watch the news and you assume that these countries hate us. And maybe they do. But where most of you are mistaken is on the reason WHY they hate us. They don't hate us for being the "world police". They don't hate us because we came to their country to build schools, even the odds, and make an attempt at a civil way of life. They don't hate us for wearing the stars and stripes. They hate us because we have everything they wake up wishing they had. We have everything they go to sleep praying their kids can have. And all we want is more. We have no sense of appreciation for the things we have been given. We just want more. Bigger, better, faster. We are so hungry for power, and technology, and success. That we don't stop to look around at those who envy us. We don't stop to breath, to enjoy. To smile. We are so selfish that it makes me literally nauseous.

I love my country, and I will not take for granted the fact that I was born in the best country in the world. I just hope that more people realize that before we swallow ourselves whole.

When the towers fell everyone was united, Americans..... Where the fuck is your flag now?
