the UK - the home of the gentleman....such an age old concept - it's not about being wealthy, intellignence and well-to-do - it's an inner hunility, compassion and thoughtfulness that drive character.
I wonder whether the slide in polite behaviour / gentlemanleness began with the struggle for equality. Equality is a good thing ofcourse...but may have short / mid term consequences. Is teh fall in gentlemannleness a result of emmasculation? the softening of masculinity? The surge of liberalness and sexual equality? Or just a result of materialism, and the pressures of society on teh indidivual?
