So, 10 months ago we decided to move due to almost being robbed in our last apartment. We moved into a 3 bedroom with a guy friend Zeke. We thought it would be cool considering we all worked together and was awesome friends.
3 days later he quits and finds a new job at O'Charlies down the road and starts to become a new person. I never knew that new people could take such a personal and extreme difference on someone but hey not my buisness.
We made a list of rules before moving in that included not smoking cigs in the apartment and noone touching Zeke's personal things in the computer room. We have 100% went by these and have tried not to disrespect anyone for that matter.
About a month ago Zeke's new (and I mean by 2 weeks) girlfriend comes and cries to us about her 3 guy roommates kicking her to the curb and she had no other place to go. I am generally a warm hearted and weak hearted person so I said she could stay with us. Thing about is that I personally had to ask her about her share of the bills before she even brought it up herself. Maybe this was me jumping the gun who knows but that isn't anything important right now.
Wednesday my husband Brian came home (which we already had 2 friends over since 1:30) to our neighbors knocking on the door and asking for them. Noone even knew they were home and he said to go knock on their door. Lets not remind everyone how they never hang out with us and if they are home they're always locked in their room. I guess we're not cool enough anymore, he has his new friends. Whatever.
ANYWAYS! As soon as the door was opened cig smokes filled the apartment. Now, what about that rule? Haha, I guess since his girlfriend lives here now those are void! They spent the entire night smoking in there and our apartment smelt sooooo bad from it. We lit candles, opened the door and used a whole can of air freshner but the smell didn't go away. I decided to write them a letter since they wasn't obviously going to come out of the room for anything that night.
In my letter I was extremely nice and just asked if we could talk about it since we felt disrespected. This isn't the first time we have felt this way but I don't like to fight with the people you live with. What did I get in return? I letter from Jennifer, Zeke's girlfriend. She talks about how they now pay 1/2 the bills and find this rule to be unfair because they both smoke cigs and we don't. Then she started talking about my dogs. Now, rewind. Zeke has been mean to our two dogs, we had one when we moved in so if he hated animals and had his so called "allery" then why sign a lease with dog owners? C'mon, I smell bullshit.
She said our dogs smelled as bad as the cig smoke. WAIT!! Brian and I have cleaned this apartment twice weekly for 10 months while they might take out the trash once a month. We also shampoo carpets and I'm constantly lighting candles. Our dogs DO NOT stink and neither does the apartment!!! Even if I would think cig smoke sticking to my furnitre is worse, but I guess my trained dogs roll in dog shit all day long.
Then, in our computer room Zeke put his futon in here. Okay, so I was respectful and put our sheet on it incase Nayru or Syn did jump up there. He knew way before we even moved in together that we owned a dog that has always been welcomed to furniture.
So, the letter was a total bitch move and said that we won't stop smoking, it is our room. Deal and that they didn't want to break the lease because we only have 4 months left.
I wrote a letter back laughing at them for one, bringing up the past that she wasn't even for. For wasting time to write about a different issue for the fact that they said fuck us and did what they wanted. I'm standing my grounds, it either stops or we can move. No biggy, they can pay the rent here I have other places to go and would love to do so ANYWAYS.
Am I wrong for feeling this way? I mean, if they would've came to us and expressed that they hated sitting in the cold to smoke a cig (which I have yet to hear any kind of excuse as to why except that they pay 1/2 the bills. Let's not remember that Brian and I paid 2/3 for 9 months) then I would've came to terms with it. Asked them to get a fan and please smoke by their window. But no, they don't want to do that. They want to smoke it up because now Zeke found someone to help pay a majority of the bills to "get his way.". Well, not to sound like a bitch but if this continues then Jennifer can go. He can continue to smoke and we will live it out, or they can willingly take us off the lease and continue living here. Their choice. But if she thinks she has any right to say anything here when we don't know her and she hasn't even been here a month AND she's not on the lease, WHATEVER. I'm not here to play games with children and that is all they act like. They don't do shit around here and it is puppy lust anyways. She got kicked because she lived with 3 dudes who didn't like the fact she had a boyfriend. Face it, she must've been sucking their dick. Not my problem.
