Hemingway razed our language to devastation

I genuinely enjoy all the truly cute, beautiful, and luscious women here, some who in passing I discover are as cute inside as outside, and who all seem to have a wry twist to their smile so that you know they suffer wit with enthusiasm.

In my ineffable opinion, for someone to say with any certitude what their character or likes-dislikes are is of questionable value. When they do say it, write it, it more closely or more likely resembles an expression of their ideal -- what "should be," not necessarily "what is." But that is of good value, since they have provided a window into their being, so we may try on what we see as if it were a suit of clothing, to know if it fits us well.

Hey, my name is jerry. Retired, but am still coco for anything technical (including the multiverse), so I spend way too much money on building my next, best computer systems. ex-hardware and software engineer.

85% of the literature (700 pounds of books) I have read is pre-twentieth century. Studied ancient Greek and modern French.

The improper use of commas drives me insane, I mean bonkers! Well, other grammar errors make me nuts, too.

I record HD protected mode movies from cable onto my computer...then make Blu-ray discs. Since I'm retired and poor I have to do it that way. My systems have 16-TB hard disk space, two sets of 4-way RAID-0 on dedicated LSI and Adaptec controllers.

...anyway, you get the idea.

Interests
As much time as I can I watch movies. The only limits are whats on the tube, and even though I have 500 DVD/Blu-rays, mostly you get tired of them. Genres: film noir, romantic comedies, drama (dependent on cast)...well maybe it would be easier to just say I'm not too keen on thrillers, horror, or western. Oh, yes, need to say I like reality TV: cooking, design, and art competition. And some whodunits, and PBS Masterpiece.

Generally, not so much: any 1950 through 1985 film since the acting and dialog was so facile. Yes, yes, yes, of course there were some very good ones during those years, but if I see Robert Mitchum, et al., from those years I pass.

Pre 1950 movies are good for me because they are, "talk, talk, talk" (julia roberts in Notting Hill), unlike now where it is: action -- scene change -- action -- scene change -- scene change -- scene change -- three line of dialog -- then repeat.
