This famous Greek maxim is attributed to any number of ancient Greek philosophers, including the great Socrates. However, according to the ancient historian Plutarch, "Know Thyself" was originally the admonition "Gnothi se auton" ("Know Thyself") inscribed on the Sun god Apollo's Oracle of Delphi temple in ancient Greece. The hardest thing I think is to tell the world about who you are. You have one view of what or how you think you appear to the world and then the world has another. Hopefully, they aren't too far off from one another (unless the world thinks you're shit) To really "know thyself" requires discipline, serious introspection and a want to understand all of who you really are. Even the so-called "darker side" or what 20th century psychologist Carl Jung calls the "Shadow Self". YES, we ALL have what appears to be a SO-CALLED "darkness" and/or "evil" lurking about in our hearts. The key is to learn to appreciate it, control it and NOT BE controlled BY it. I am a spiritual being made in the flesh of a woman for this incarnation of my development. I am child of the universe, daughter of the moon, seeker of mysteries, always challenging myself to go further, to look deeper within any given situation and most importantly, myself. I guess in some "sort of way" I could be considered narcissistic only to the point of where I look at every situation and experience in how it relates TO ME and what lessons are there for ME to learn from it so that I can either change or remain on course that allows spiritual growth. I am the mother of 5 beautiful daughters, ages 8,9,10,14 and 17. Who needs a baseball team when you can grow your own coven? *Smile* I have often wondered why I was entrusted with the gift of motherhood, especially with FIVE little goddesses. It's been a tough road, and the hardest job I have ever had nor ever will have in my life. It's been and continues to be a growing process. Today, because of that growth process my girls and I are EXCEEDINGLY close. We have our battles, our trials and tribulations but in the end, we always, always pull it together and know that our family, our clan is of most importance. My spiritual path is that of a pagan witch rooted in Celtic tradition. I stray from the word "religion" as to me, religion is another word for "power, politics, domination" etc...my spiritual path is "a path", a way of life, a philosophy that permeates my whole existence. No constraints, no fears, to guilt nor shame in knowing that I am of the Gods and they are of me too. There is something so empowering knowing that, as a priestess, I AM a servant to my people, my community, and my Gods that I am NOT some subserviant being who must beg and plead for blessings to a transcendent God who waits on high to be exhaulted, feared and worshipped. It's an amazing feeling to know that *I* am powerful as a woman in my own right, and that *I* have the power within myself to affect many things in my life. Life is all about choices and I chose to direct my own life and either be happy or miserable. I know that *I* I am the captain of my ship and I dictate where it goes....That She is me and I am in Her and that we are ALL interconnected to eachother. Yeah, to me there's no other magic and beauty in this world that can top that. I am a woman of many faucets. I am in constant change, re-inventing myself over and over. I like that about me because it's a reflection of my vast interests in the world. I am firmly grounded, roots go way down deep BUT I allow my branches to stretch out there far and wide experiencing as much diversity as I can handle. I am on this merry-go-round and I'm reaching for the sky.
Music
David Bowie of course. (like duhhhh) ....Metal, rock, pop, celtic, arabic/middle eastern, tribal, trance, rennaisance, classical....http://i14.photobucket.com/albums/a316/sarahbear13_/RHCP.jpghttp://i14.photobucket.com/albums/a316/sarahbear13_/anthonyk.jpg.SOooooooooooooo many types of music. The music I listen to at any given time reflects my ever changing mood. Sometimes, however, if I am cranky, the my mood becomes the reflection of the music (hoping someone puts on a calming CD quickly!)

Idols
a> *Gushing and blushing* Feeling like a 16 year old girl again, (probably needing a man for something other than taking out my trash or fixing my car...*smiles*) I have been obsessing over Criss Angel and forever over David Bowie!! Bowie because....well.....need I really explain?? And Criss.....at first I was just blown away by his talent and his "mindfreak'-ing abilities to make the impossible seem so very possible, at least for him. Of course, we know he CAN'T levitate and all that but damn! He makes it LOOK so real, and your like "HOW did he pull that off"? Anyway, then after awhile I noticed "hey, he's pretty HOT too"......so then I'm like "Not only is this man an wonderful, brilliant performer but he's pretty freakin' HOT too".....so it made that much more enjoyable for me to watch "MindFreak" on Wednesday nights.~~ I would love to meet them both. David Bowie because he's a freaking musical genius who changed himself, for himself over and over and over and changed the freakin' world......Criss Angel, that beautiful Angel....because "he's a magic man".....
