I am really into reading philosophy (mainly pertaining to poverty issues), Canadian rock is really the new Brazilian Post-Punk. Eskimo folk punk rock really interests me, and I cannot leave out the fact that in my free time I love to dance to 80s music or Brazilian samba. I enjoy indie music, truly to the extent that once I earn my PhD I will base my job search to towns that have good indie music Portland, OR is my number one choice, Glasgow, NYC, Madison, WI (maybe not I don't think I like the Midwest enough), and Austin, TX. I enjoy traveling. That is why I am trying to earn my degree so that I can go to as many conferences as I want and really get to know different people. I have studied Spanish formally and informally, I picked up some German in college and hope to learn more. I would like to learn French, but I am not in a hurry.
I am looking for good bbq places, I miss home and the food is what brings me back.

Librarians, music, big lots, sneakers, good pair of jeans, and moon lite nights*+
*note I took out "my bike" from the list, because I think I am probably just a poser. I don't bike because of great concern for anything except my wallet, nor am I ultra hipster biker dude. And my bike is an awful cheap thing from Goodwill.
+ I also had guitar in this list, but then I thought that was really typical of some guy with black rim glasses, so took it out...I am not a musician, but I have considered it. I like to write but its just something to pass the unbearable time of grading student papers.
Music
Crystal Castles, and pretty much all indie music, but Australian (i.e. the Guild League or Lucksmiths, or Cut Copy) and Canadian (i.e. hexes & ohs, Stars) indie music really has my ear...but Portland's music scene is par excellence. I am also probably more appreciative of a woman's voice on the song: Cat Power, Feist, and the Headlights or Camera Obscura (oh how I do love Scotland's indie music, do you know Reindeer Section?). I appreciate England indie too: CLIENTELE, and Good Shoes *If you never ever talk to me, and I am serious, at least take note of the listed bands, you will thank me and your friends with thank you.
